Why Tyson Isnt An ATG

The man was fun watching while I was growing up. One of the most entertaining and couragious warriors to ever enter a ring. If you haven't seen them I highly suggest watching the first Qawi fight, the Michael Dokes match and the Riddick Bowe Trilogy. Dude fought some wars.

 

So in Tinkerbell land, Michelle never lost a fight? Record number of title defences? In Tinkerbell land Joe Louis, Larry Holmes, Ali and Wladimir Klitschko don't exist?

He doesn't suck, that is pretty obvious. He was a good fighter and even great for a short time but this acclaim he is getting as being a top 10 ATG is just ridiculous. Hey man, I was there when the hypetrain was at it's peak. I was a believer just like this clown azzer is but the ensuing decade made me change opinions on Tyson's career and legacy.

An all time icon of boxing? Sure. A top 10 ATG at hw, no.

I do put it on a little to ruffle the feathers of tyson groupies like azzer but the points that downgrade Tyson's legacy are still very much valid.

 

Okay fair post. I do think he cracks top 10 though even if its near the bottom.

 

I have him at about 12th to 14th place all time at hw which imho is being very fair.

 

Ratings are subjective and will differ with everyone. Some people place more weight in some criteria and less in others. I have him somewhere between 8-10.

 

Yeah, I think if one is truly a fan of boxing then one can only admire Holyfield.

 

He gets a lot of flack for head butting, steroid use, etc. But if it comes down to showing true grit its hard not to like him.
