Muhammad Ali had one of the if not THE best resume of all time. He had floyd patterson, Archie moore(despite waay past prime) Liston, Foreman, Frazier, Norton, Doug Jones, Chuvalo, Shavers, Jerry Quarry, Jimmy Ellis, Larry Holmes... and i'm sure i missed a few Not to mention fought the most "All time Punchers" of probably any heavy weight champion of all time.
Greb himself had at least an equally great resume, and from my understanding he got the best of Tunney on more than the 1 occasion in which he beat him, despite the ruling going the other way. I will admit, I'm not deep enough into Greb's resume to give you the exact accounts, but I'm sure if Klompton comments he can provide enough information to confirm or put to rest what I'm saying. Again, I'm not 100% sure, but it is just to my understanding.
Ali's resume quoted above vs Benny Yanger's: Harry Forbes W-TKO5 Young Corbett W-KO8 George Dixon D6 Tommy Sullivan D6 Young Corbett D6 George Dixon W15 Abe Attell W-TKO19 Austin Rice W6 Kid Herman W6 Tim Callahan W6 Eddie Hanlon D20 Aurelio Herrera D6 Charles Neary W6 Kid Goodman D12
If were purely going by names fought (not wins) Holyfield has to be up there, Bowex3, Tysonx2, Lewisx2, Foreman, Holmes, Moorerx2, Qawi, Mercer, Douglas, Cooper
Whenever posters describe Harry Greb's series of bouts against Gene Tunney, they for the most part never bring up the fact that Harry Greb was about 10-12 pounds lighter than the LH Gene Tunney....A great handicap for any 160 pounder to overcome...The mere fact that Greb more than held his own against a much larger Gene Tunney is startling....Truly Greb was one for the ages...
The two greatest resumes of all time belong to Sam Langford and Harry Greb. I have a hard time choosing between them!
Joey Maxim deserves some consideration here. Check it out... Ezzard Charles x 5 Jersey Joe Walcott x 3 Floyd Patterson Archie Moore x 3 Sugar Ray Robinson Bobo Olson x 2 Willie Pastrano Gus Lesnevich Freddie Mills Jimmy Bivins x 2 Lloyd Marshall Eddie Machen x 2
