After seeing Page dominate and drop Tyson in sparring how do you think this would have gone down if they fought? IMO Page had every tool in the box to dismantle and stop Tyson.

This happened in training for Douglas in Tokyo.
Your question is dependant on when the fight would have happened.
Other fighters had the tools to beat Tyson but didnt ( at his peak).. whilst average fighters beat him after his decline had set in.
    So your question is subjective.
Page himself was 'all over the place' so you also have the dilemma of what shape he would've shown up in.
Page was skilfull but lacked power (similar fighter to Tony Tubbs)..good skills and hand speed but you would never know which version of him would show up as he had substance issues dedication issues....all the usual.

The fact that Page, Berbick, and McCall were all dominating Tyson in sparring before the Douglas fight just goes to show you that any good heavyweight who was in shape would have had a very good chance to beat Tyson in February 1990.

The fight should have been called off. BUT, they didn't call it off because they thought so little of Douglas that they figured he'd tank it as soon as he got hit; that even a diminished out-of-it Tyson could beat him. They were wrong.

Two lessons - never underestimate anyone, and always show up in top shape.

Of course I'm talking both at their peak, Page had the jab, power and footwork to really trouble Tyson IMO.

Tyson looked far from being in poor shape against Douglas, maybe just maybe Douglas has his number just like more other big men did??

Greg had some good moments but he wasn't top shelf. Tyson beats him about as fast as he beat Berbick.

Wass... i'm not getting in an argument with you again...i think you like a good wind up....but it just gets like table tennis...
you raise a post or thread you gotta take peoples honest opinions on board...thats how it works... (mate) !
I will let other posters jugde..but i don't think many will see power as Greg's strong point and certainly not against Tyson. Peak for Peak he would fare as goid as Williams Tubbs etc... Greg's peak was extremely short, after his first loss v Tubbs he was erratic.
No doubting high levels of skills though, if he have been more dedicated he would have been a contender still in 1990 instead of a hired hand in camp.

McCall and Page both dropped Tyson in sparring. Just goes to show if a HW hits you cleanly on the button, you can get stopped no matter who you are.

I wouldn't say Tyson was out of shape when he fought Douglas on the contrary I think he was in rather good physical shape but I do agree he didn't look sharp at all. I think everything had gone to Tyson's head at this point and anyone who boxes knows if you're heads not right it will show on how you perform in the ring. A gradual decline was clear starting with his first fight with Bruno, the fight with Williams ended to quickly to make any judgements then against Douglas, Tyson looked nothing of his dominate self. He still put together a good effort, he took a terrible beating and still managed to even drop Douglas in the late rounds but overall the perfect storm of **** finally took its tole on Tyson in the ring.

When it comes to a fight with Greg Page, Tyson would have to be very off and Page would have to be at his best to beat Tyson. You take a prime Tyson and put him in their with Greg Page on a normal night or even his best night and I think the best Page could hope for would be to last the distance and give Tyson little problems here and there.

In over 300 rounds of sparring Tyson never dropped or hurt Oliver McCall. McCall got the better of Tyson, knocking him down and gave him black eyes and bloody noses.

Where the hell do you get your information from:huh

Im not calling you a BS, LIAR, but jesus christ 300 ROUNDS:nut, DUDE CMON THATS'S AN AWFUL LOT OF SPARRING ROUNDS...

Judging by accomplishments, and ability, talent, Tyson sure had a much better career than Mccall, despite the fact Mikey spent 3 years in the slammer, and don't bring up Mccalls drug use, Tyson was an alcoholic, drug addict too..

My info comes from interviews with Oliver McCall. I'll post links:

    http://www.boxinginsider.com/interviews/interview-with-oliver-mccall/

Those 300+ rounds of sparring was the totality of their sparring over several of Tyson's fights. Absolutely nothing farfetched with that number.

MiKe never fought McCall in a professional fight and I think if they did McCall would have presented problems for Mike.

Trevor Berbick also beat Tyson up in sparring, as did Bruno.

How do you think those fights would have gone?
