:nono Hey, I was no insulated Yank ignoramus on Brook - he was on my radar back in the Intercontinental and even British title days - but you have to admit he was still not really battle tested (outside Jones I, in which he did struggle, and I didn't hear that but witness it as it was happening - I had it a draw and thought Kell was damn close to being KTFO in the last few minutes: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?p=13282807#post13282807) before he fought Sloppy-time.

...and yeah, Marquez would have an even bigger counter-punching field day with Pac's old sparring partner than he did (four times over) with Pac himself.

    Very solid list.

I've argued long about Wlad's inclusion being that the decent fighters he's beat he has a big size advantage over, and the one's his own size are proper ****, I guess he's beaten the best available but unlike the other guys on the list he's never had a win that impressed me.

I'd also argue Rigondeaux is a bit low too.

Both these points are very arguable, and I wouldn't have a problem, really, with switching those two.

Speaking personally (because I don't get too into the TBRB p4p list) I rank Rigo a bit higher, but i'm very happy to see him lower becasue I think it stresses the other matter you raise, consistency, professionalism, dominance (he's TBRB king only quite recently but has been the clear divisional #1 for much longer) which all speak in favour of Wlad but against Rigo. These are p4p attributes too (see Robinson, Armstrong, Leonards, Moore).

I'm comfortable with this difference, it feels like a sensible approach to me.

What makes me most proud of the TBRB p4p list, which I haven't been always, is Estrada at #10. That's some good eats.

:good Glad to see Estrada in. I have him in my own but- like Gonzalez himself- didn't expect to see him in many lists until long after it was warranted.

    Good stuff here from TBR.

Mine is always changing a little bit, but it'd probably go something as follows...

    1. Mayweather
    2. Ward
    3. Pacquiao
    4. Roman
    5. Wladimir
    6. Rigondeaux
    7. Bradley
    8. Marquez
    9. Estrada
    10. Donaire
Next guys up: Froch, Hopkins, Cotto... few more like Yamanaka/Mikey/Adonis/Alvarez/Uchiyama/Narvaez/Ioka/Danny/Matthysse

I've got to say that it's tougher arranging, as it's more debatable, the top 10 now than it has been the past couple years.

Yes, the temptation to move Froch down or out is not huge. I personally have him at #10. I think Garcia and Cotto would be just behind Froch for me, and Hopkins road to Damascus moment is coming.

Donaire is someone I think is somewhat unfortunate to have almost completely disappeared from most list- he barely even makes many honorable mentions anymore.

On paper a decision loss to Rigo, and wins over Darchinyan and Vetyeka is still pound for pound quality after being fighter of the year in 2012- I think it's more his performances in his last 3 fights than the results that have seen his mass exodus from pound for pound discussions.

How about we take the TBRB list as a starting point, and cobble together a twenty we few could agree upon?

    So TBRB:
    1. Floyd Mayweather
    2. Andre Ward
    3. Manny Pacquiao
    4. Roman Gonzalez
    5. Timothy Bradley
    6. Juan Manuel Marquez
    7. Carl Froch
    8. Wladimir Klitschko
    9. Guillermo Rigondeaux
    10. Juan Francisco Estrada
    -------------------------------
    11 - Miguel Cotto
    12 - Danny Garcia
    13 - Nonito Donaire

I don't expect us to flat out agree, but does that look reasonable, or unreasonable?

I'll pipe in with yes. Mikey, not Danny, over Saul.

In fact they may suitably flesh us out to sixteen.

If Hopkins enters any lower than 16 we might get accused of being ageist

Ah, didn't realize you already Danny at twelve when I said that earlier.

Honestly I don't love him or Donaire that high right now, but I can't find too much fault with that list, Mac.
