If Maidana wins, is he the defacto #1 P4P fighter in the world?

No, because styles make fights, beating the p4p no.1 because your style gives him hell doesn't make you automatically number 1. Some fighters that maidana would lose to would be schooled by floyd so it's more complicated than it would seem.

Agree with last poster...that's just not how it works. However, it should definitely vault him onto the list.

It would be more of mayweathers fall from grace than maidanas rise to prominence. By the way, I think Floyd's getting ko'd. Haven't picked against floyd in a very long time. I'm not a fan of the guy, but this has nothing to do with that. I just feel like the guys run is at an end. Wrong kind of fighter for floyd at this stage.

No Ricky Hatton p4p champ isn't a belt you can actually fight for.

No, but Maidana would enter the top 5 at least.

Nope. He will go up in the p4p rankings but not to no. 1. He'd have to own that title for a little bit if he beats Mayweather Saturday

Ten at the highest, really. He isn't currently even 15-20.

No single W can vault you that far, however big.

Mayweather is 37 years old, a win over him wouldn't even mean that much, if anything at all.

Mayweather has been slipping for years now. He's close to being shot.

    It's so stupid

Only father time can beat him.

He needs to retire soon. I don't want to see him take a loss when he's already shot, kinda stupid. :tired

He should retire soon. I'd hate to see him become another great boxer who stayed in the game too long and lose to fighters he would have schooled in his prime.

He should fight Khan and Thurman/Brook, then retire while still on top.

Indeed. He should go Sept 2015.

He has nothing more ever to prove.

*****s making excuses already, Chino the Argentine G got them shook.

No he wouldn't automatically be #1, this is really about styles. Maidana is tough but he is not elite in anyway (IMO).

18 years on top is still a GREAT accomplishment.

He's been at the top of the boxing world since 1998.
