lovely enterntaining posts on here...nothing that a trained and motivated Page ever did in the ring makes me believe that he would beat a properly trained and motivated Tyson... all of the intangible that occurs in fights and the lead up to fights which include..injuries, personal problems, lack of training or chasing *****, getting the money, knowing that the big cash is coming your ways.. could change the outcome of the actual fight...but Tyson knocks Page out....no other ending can I envision and lick my nuts to anyone who disagrees and wants to argue :nut

    Totally agree with above.
All the sane posters on here will concur with the fact that a peak Tyson is 'highly probable' to take out Page.I would say 95% probable.
I'm not Tyson eulogist but there were many other fighters
WASS that had the skills and tools just like Page...but it didnt do them much good...was Greg Page really any better( or THAT much better) than Berbick,Willians ,Biggs,Tucker,Tubbs( who best him) Bruno ,Holmes or anyone else who caught Mike in his peak years. ?
    I just can't see it...

None of the above could crack like Page barring Bruno and he was like a robot compared to Greg.

Wass...i've just looked up this guy's record.
Page lost SEVEN times in his first 34 fights...
    Berbick
    Witherspoon
    Tubbs
    Douglas
    David Bey
    Mark Wills
    (Old) Joe Bugner

C'mon man...Page couldn't even use the excuse of being old with any of these loses.
These were BEFORE he went downhill.
This list explains why he was Tyson's sparring partner and not his opponent.

    Case closed.

Tyson dedication to training clearly wasn't the same as it once was but I'm a young fighter myself and shedding 30 lbs ain't easy no matter what. I guarantee he put in a fair share of work for the Douglas fight but as I said and know from experience you can train a lot but if you're not truly focused on you're training and the upcoming fight you're skills can diminish all the same. Another thing once you've got into top shape consistently you begin to learn what it takes to get back their I'm sure Tyson put in some of those long runs/ days at the gym that get you there for the Douglas fight though maybe not as many nor with the same focus as previous fights.

Anyway you get the just of it the point I'm making is that people try to completely discount Douglas's performance and that Tyson got beat by making it seem like he was the most unprepared fighter in history for the fight in Toyko which wasn't the case. One thing about boxing is that a lot of the time when you lose their are many reasons you can point to as to why you were defeated but overall the fact of the matter is the other guy was better on that night.

If you locked Azzer ,Wass and VVMM. in a lift ,you wouldn't need Don King to sell tickets to watch what would unfold, would you ?

    Good post.

Tyson's timing did seem a bit off, but on the other hand Douglas was really fluid and confident. Making great use of that jab. These things are always hard to tell.

Tucker also opened well against Tyson, but he didn't really manage to impose himself physically like Douglas and faded after the first three rounds. Douglas, on the other hand, controlled the centre of the ring for the most part and had the better of Mike on the inside.

I really don't know enough of Page to say how he would fare in comparison to these guys. But if we look at the fighters who gave Tyson the most trouble when he was still any good - Tillis, Tucker, Douglas and Holyfield - they were all good boxers. But to really bother him - like Douglas and Holyfield did - you also needed to outmuscle him and work him over some in close.

Hahaha funny how an old prospect such as yourself hides away when I call you out to meet for a friendly spar, me thinks you're telling another one of your porkies.

Come on then what fighters that Mark mentioned could punch as hard as Page apart from Bruno? Is it Tubbs? Williams? Biggs? Thomas??

Good post and I believe fighting Tyson would have brought out the best in Page who badly underachieved in his career. He definitely had the power to hurt and drop Tyson as was evident in Tokyo, just imagine what would happen if Tyson didn't have the headgear on.

He was really taking Tyson apart then boom! That's all she wrote.

Funny that this is before the Douglas fight and Tyson doesn't look 30lb overweight like the fanboys say and looks pretty sharp, there goes another excuse down the toilet.

    Who did Page ever knockout?

and secondly.....does it matter how hard Page hits? Are you forgetting how hard Tyson hits?
