Marco Antonio "Veneno" Rubio is the 6'0 34 year old, with 59-8-1 51 KO's 4 KO losses. Born in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico and fighting out of Torreon, Coahuila de Zaragoza, Mexico. He is clearly not a prospect but I thought maybe some of you could use this as a primer for GGG-Rubio, He has not been properly stopped in 10 years, since he was an inexperienced young man, in the Pavlik fight the corner threw the towel in even though he wasn't hurt, and he went toe to toe with Chavez Jr in a slugfest, that could have easily been close to a draw. He is a tough, rugged, grizzled veteran, who if anyone can take GGG into deep waters, he has the ability and Chin to do it.
Acquaint or Reacquaint yourself with this Seasoned Mexican Hombre he may surprise you.:freddy

He's tough and durable. Should be an interesting fight, though I expect GGG to stop him between 7 & 10

He's going to have to be first and get GGG's respect and hope he can hurt GGG. He can't fight on his back foot against the ropes like he sometimes gets in the habit of doing.

Let it be. At least someone (aside from IB) is doing some decent work on the forum instead of the usual random trolling and flaming that makes up 90% of the posts here.

Rubio was considered a joke fight for Pavlik back in 2009, that's all you need to know.

No, this is for all the people who say GGG's comp is ****, Rubio is very underrated, and some on here don't know much about him so what's wrong with enlightening them. Might get people more pumped up for GGG-Rubio.

Good thread. Rubio is under rated. I had him beating Chavez, and he hurt him twice. Jr never hurt Rubio. Had their last names been reversed, the outcome would have been reversed.

I rate Rubio probably the 4th hardest hitter at 160 After GGG, Lemieux and Stevens. He is durable, not fragile like Geale. Its a good fight. I think Rubio is better than Quillin or Murray, the most worthwhile contender at 160 that GGG has yet to beat and is not visibly shot. (like Sturm or Martinez who still get rated inexplicably)

I had the fight a draw, meanwhile I've seen a few people on here claiming Chavez destroyed Rubio in a one sided fight.:-(
I think you and I are the only ones actually wanted to see this fight happen, I remember us mentioning it on my GGG at SMW thread.
