Which 5 Heavyweights Are The Most Stylistically Problematical For Jack Johnson?

No one is picking off Ali's jab, no one.

Louis would pressure him onto the back foot and catch him at some point.

 

I actually think out of all modern heavyweights his best chance is against Vitali. Based on the success Byrd had.

Also leads me to retract my Foreman pick based on the success Young had.

 

I'm not saying Tunney might not beat Jack but I don't think it would be much of a fight. As with Ali I believe Jack's skills were ideal for picking off the type of punches the two threw.

I believe Johnson was an outstanding fighter and would have been highly competitive with any heavyweight through the super heavyweight era when size simply has to start becoming a factor .. I always thought Ali's sped and volume of punches would pose a challenge based on the slower pace Johnson liked to dictate but who knows how he would have approached such a fight with a fixed distance of 10, 12 or 15 rounds .. I personally think the talk of him not having skills or a progressive style to be absolute nonsense .. the man was exceptionally talented .. as far as the Hart fight as his albatross the way I see it is that he likely won by a very large decision and got ribbed like a Hagler v.s. an Vito the first time out and then fairytales took over ... notice how Hart never even considered giving the man a rematch ..
