I'm a little shocked more isn't being made of this. Dave Moretti scored both fights exactly the same (minus the point) and in total, the scorecards look near identical to the first fight. WTF? Other than a few really clean punches by Maidana, he was easily beaten and wasn't nearly as competitive as in the first. Did Maidana seek advice from Reuben and Chepo?
They want these mismatches to seem closer than they are, that way they can say it was PPv worthy It's a way of fooling the public into thinking they are paying for a competitive fight
I thought the scorecards were a tad tighter as I expected, but I agreed on the 116-111 scores. Floyd lost a couple of rounds and gave away the 12th to make sure he would survive Maidana's last stand. The whole issue is that the 10 point must system is pretty limited. a 120-108 fight can be very competitive with one guy contantly edging every single round and it can be total domination. Don't look at the score, but look at what actually happened in the ring.
Maidana outlanded Floyd (via Shostats) in the final 3 rounds. He also clearly won the 4th round and round 7 was 14-13 Floyd in landed punches. I don't usually cite shostats per round but you could make the argument that he won 5 rounds. I also thought rounds 2 and 3 were really close and probably could have been 10-10. That said, Floyd won, he had more oooomph on his punches. I think this fight was about as close as the first one. Everyone says the first fight was so close, but after the first 6 rounds Maidana faded. This fight Maidana didn't really fade like that and did well in the final 3 rounds. Round 12 Floyd landed 1 punch lmao. Floyd pulling a Willie Pepp lol. It was cool though seeing Floyd use evasive footwork like that. It was funny but could be seen as running. All I got to say is Maidana is the man. He gave Floyd problems and it was an entertaining fight. I will say that the point deduction was absurd. Floyd was holding Maidana and fell on his ass. By the way, Floyd hit the canvas a lot in this fight. Floyd had repeated low blows. I mean, s*** he had a second low blow in the 11th right after being warned for low blows and the fight stopped to give Maidana 5 minutes. Floyd fights are entertaining though. Floyd did his thing, he looked better than he looked vs Canelo or in the first fight vs Maidana.
Athor question; Why isn't Robert Hoyle's despicable card on Vazquez vs Bey mentioned? That was the only outrageous score of the evening, and probaby of the year.
They're trying to get Floyd. Plain and simple...tried with the Canelo fight...someone tell me otherwise, please...will be interesting if he gets to 48-0 and then goes for Marciano's record. Or worse, trying to break the record. Last night's fight wasn't even close and one judge had Maidana winning 5 rounds...5 rounds!?
Everyone's outrage is, quite rightly, towards the 119-109 scorecard for Bey. That was reprehensible. Floyd won and the decision was correct - these days that's about as good as you can hope for.
I had it 10-2. Could make a case for 9-3. I'm not surprised anymore with the judges scorecards. Some of Mayweather's critics will point to the idea that he never leaves Vegas because he has the judges in his pockets which is just completely false. I thought he beat Maidana almost as convincingly as he beat Alvarez, another fight that i thought was around 10-2 or 11-1. But we all know how the scoring in that fight went.
who the hell cares?was there something to understand from this so called fight? floyd won the fight was dirty boring and C- level
