Why Kell Brook deserves more respect than Floyd Mayweather

    - When Kell Brook won the title from Shawn Porter, he didn't have a crooked ref protecting him and allowing him to clamp his opponent's arm. The ref was fair.

    - Brook didn't demand Porter wear gloves with extra padding

    - Brook was fighting IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY in his opponent's home country, something Floyd has NEVER had the courage to do

    - Brook never pretended to be bitten when he wanted a rest or time to recover

    - Brook never pretended to be pushed down to get the ref to deduct a point

    - Brook doesn't beat up women (as far as I know)

    You are correct.

    Porter was undefeated and has never been knocked down.

    Maidana is shopworn and has lost to ordinary boxers like Kotelnik and Alexander.

    Porter is a flailing, wild muscle-head dummy. Shawn is really no better than Marcos in actuality. Secondly, Brook held on for dear life anytime Porter got near him, I don't blame him, but he did. Besides Brook is only half white, so I'm trying to figure out what your angle is...

    Delete this troll thread simply for trying to compare Floyd's achievement to one hit wonder, Kelly Brook with his only credible win win against a not so proven guy in Porter.

    And what's Maidana? They're similar style fighters, so comparing their one common opponent in Alexander actually tells us a lot about their levels. Porter trounced Alexander while Maidana got shut out. Nuff said

    Interestingly, Porter dominated Alexander and Alexander defeated Maidana.

    What about that?

    They are similar, but Porter is in his prime, while Maidana is a bit faded and shopworn.

    Maidana is wild and flailing also, but not a muscle head dummy. Marcos is just a fouling dummy. I actually think skill wise they are about the same...

    The fight is a toss up for me. Maidana got beaten up BADLY by Devon Alexander FFS. Even though Porter beat Alexander, he didn't batter him or anything. Maidana-Porter would be an ugly, foul infested clinch fest that would probably end due to a headbutt stopping the fight or a DQ...

    I agree.

    I don't rate either Porter or Maidana highly, and both are (or was) big time overrated one dimensional fighters, but what's Maidana's best wins? Over the two of the biggest hype jobs of a generation in Ortiz and Broner?

    Maidana has basically lost to every guy above C level he's been in the ring with and he hasn't improved as much as people like to point out- his Plan B is still to try harder with Plan A, and hasn't improved enough to go from being shut out by Alexander to beating him, and Alexander still lost fairly decisively to Porter.

    styles make fights. maidana would probably trouble brook because of his awkwardness and floyd would box brook's head off.
