It's one thing to fight like a 50 year old facing a murderous puncher when you're actually a 50 year old who's facing a guy who is, literally, a murderous puncher.

Also, Kovalev is more an accurate puncher than Maidana.

    He is.

Also, for those trying to take wins only into account when figuring out KO percentages....it makes no sense to reward Maidana for not being able to KO Khan, who has been stopped by practically every other puncher he's faced. By not using total fights to figure out KO %, that's exactly what you're doing.

If Chino can't get to guys enough to KO them and winds up losing on points, that must be taken into account.

they're both punchers, but one has farrrrrr more power, sometimes power will trump skills.

so if you're an older fighter who doesn't have a great workrate, the way you want to fight a puncher is to keep moving to keep them from getting their feet set and tie them up when they get close. The ultimate goal is to control them and dictate the pace of the fight.

37 isn't as old at 50, but it's still old in boxing years especially for a former superfeatherweight.

Ones a swarmer, the others a boxer puncher. You really wouldn't fight them both the.same way because other than power, they are nothing alike.

Couple of points for the obvious novices of the sport.

KO % is based on total fights, not wins. if a guy losses 9 fights and wins 1 by KO he doesn't have 100% KO record, he has a 10% KO record.

Secondly boxing is about entertainment and risk. And fighters who are prepared to risk getting KO'd for our entertainment, get and deserve mad props from the fans. So whether Hopkins wins or losses against Kovelev doesn't much matter, what matters is he had the balls to fight the guy in the first place.

That's what Floyd fans need to understand.

Ali could have avoided Foreman after Foremen destroyed Frasier but he didn't, he had the guts to fight him and he won. Duran had no businesss fighting a middleweight (Barkley) when he was 37 and only 5'7" but he did and he won and Hearns went to war with Hagler. He lost but he's still remembered for putting on a great, great fight. One that's still get watched. How many posters will be watching a Floyd fight 10-15 years from now?

Taking these risks are what elevate you to the top of the ATG list, not your record. No one should care what your record of beating B level fighters is, we care that you're willing to risk your health to show us how great you are. That's somewhat sad to say something like this, but like Tyson said, if you're a boxer you're in the hurt business.

BHop is too old to deal with the power, agility, pressure of Kovalev. Murat, Cloud, Shumenov, were good wins but cherrypicked wins. Kovalev destroyed Campillo who beat Cloud and Shumenov and was robbed, he destroyed Cleverly who beat Murat by KO. It took Hopkins a few round to adjust to their styles and he took damage early, he will take a lot of damage early from the Krusher and the question will be how much can a 50 year old body take before finally giving out.

true, but you'll be more likely to tie up the swarmer so that actually helps the point I'm making
yeah I don't see Hopkins winning as well

37 is still an age where most are retired
