Duran is a 4 division title holder and his greatest win is against Leonard. He quit against Leonard, KOed by Hearns, experienced upset by an unknown fighter and ducked the Benitez rematch. Still top 10 right?

Duran is a given in the top 10 ATG but why isn't Pacquiao?

Because he was a better fighter who faced and beat better opposition.

He was the fighter of 70s, and in 1980 scored one of the best wins ever in defeating an undefeated WW Ray Leonard (even though the "he jumped up two divisions to face SRL" myth is a tad annoying.

He blended offense and defense as well as any fighter ever.

But his one lonely win is against Leonard who is criticized with waiting for his opponents to get old for him to win. Duran and de la Hoya are the same.
They lose on top level competitions.

He got knock the **** out to Timbuktu but there is no quit in the guy. PAC went out on his shield in all his knockouts.

However he did look discouraged against agopito.

They are actually the same size physically. Pacquiao has gone up to 150 lbs and Duran went up to the 168 division. For Pacquiao to be where Durans at he'd need a win over Mayweather/Leonard, a close loss against Sergio Martinez/Hagler, get knocked out by Paul Williams/Hearns, and then decision Froch/Barkly. Actually, that would put him a little ahead of Duran since he had a better early career. But Pacquiao took his foot off the gas in 2011.

Well head to head and both at their best at lightweight Duran kills Pacquiao, and probably at Welterweight as well.

Duran. A lot of the older fighters would beat todays in my opinion because they simply fought more often - this allows them to craft their skills and fight a range of different styles. Duran's seen them all and done it all in the ring. It wouldn't be any easy fight but in my opinion Duran would win.

Another fool who's only heard of Duran because of the Leonard and Hearns fights.

Do you realize he was 71-1 by the time he fought SRL? And had been dominating the lightweight division for 8 years? He then went on to give Hagler his toughest fight and eventually getting a middleweight title.

He's simply more skilled and more accomplished than Pac.
Pac however can still add big fights to his resume. Time will tell!

lol OP's next thread will compare Ray Robinson's career to Pac's and rationalize how Robinson comes up short when compared with Pac.
