Anyone see his interview with Kugan?

Says he wont be giving Groves a shot - ever. Mandatory or not. And wont travel UK after what happened to bro (fair point here)

Didn't Groves spar and school him a while back? doesnt fancy it obviously :nono:bbb

Groves sparred Andre Dirrel not Anthony.

Groves gave him a nice shiner aswell.

Looks like Anthony has got the same gonads as his brother then.

He'll soon change his tune. The governing bodies will side with the draw and the money in situations like this and that certainly isn't Dirrell.

Other than Chavez who turned the fight down they don't have any big names in their top 15 with which to cash in on the sanctioning fee so don't be surprised to see them push this through pretty quick. The Sauerlands are no mugs.

Dirrell won't ditch the title either as he doesn't beat Ward, doesn't beat Froch, Chavez doesn't want the fight, so where else does he get a title if he vacates and earn some cash.

Dirrell wouldn't fill a balcony, never mind a backyard.

Groves and froch sold because of the controversial ending in the first fight ,Groves was never a big ticket seller in the first place nor was froch...this promotion is going to run on a big loss.

Sure I heard 6k sold for saturday which isnt too bad considering undercard/oppenent.

Groves would sell out O2 in a title fight - no doubting that.

Hope Groves does get the fight with Dirrell and puts him flat on his ****y arse. Dirrell's level of arrogance for a sub standard fighter is just annoying.

Yeah I don't think this weekend will do well, but in a decent fight and with some promotion Groves would be able to shift a few tickets still.

They're suffering from a weak opponent, an undercard full of TBAs and doing a TV deal late in the day which means it's got not much promotion. Sauerlands dropped a bollock here a bit.

Lets put this into context though... Dirrell has never and will never shift close to 3k tickets even if thats all this weekend does. The only times he has been headlining a card it's in venues with around 1000 capacities and he isn't likely to have won many fans from the Bika fights. So regardless, Groves would still be the draw.

American fighters aren't usually built up in their hometowns because the big promoters aren't regional. When Andre Dirrell fought Abraham in Michigan it looked sold out though. Terence Crawford's not exactly charismatic and sold out Omaha.

Groves is coming off 2 KO losses, so even if he becomes mandatory by beating his sub-par opponent, Dirrell is within his rights to string him along as long as he can before the mandatory is enforced.

Groves was never built as a headliner in London, but can sell out with the right opponent. Although Froch usually didn't have good exposure or TV when he was built up, he was built as a headliner in Nottingham early.
