Maidana is a much better fighter since then. Garcia has done wonders for him.

To be honest, I agree, Floyd isn't even fun to watch anymore, last fight was a disgrace, he was like Wlad basically. Nothing left to prove anymore, Pac fight isn't happening, not many challenges left, it'd be best for him to retire.

(Although doesn't he heave a contract with SHO or something)

He will never retire as long as there is this much money to be made. 30+ million a fight? How is he going to walk away from that. Wouldn't be surprised if he went to England to fight Khan, I think the Vegas crowd might be a little sick of paying huge money to watch Floyd running and looking at the clock. Not to mention, when the 30 mil paydays dry up, his lifestyle will take a hit. God knows how many leaches he is supporting. Floyd isn't the brightest bulb so making all that money and keeping it are different things. He eventually will lose like everybody else

    Not until he fights Pacquiao.

There are many reasons why he should still get that fight.

    Richest fight to be made
    He will probably win
    Legacy secured
    Give boxing a big boost
Pay back his fans who have pleaded for the fight for 6 years

Yeah, but these guys usually throw more than Floyd, and that's how you beat Chino (if you're not Floyd) - volume.

That a fair percentage were expecting 'vintage Floyd' points at his decline. Interestingly, Mayweather even said in the post-fight interview that he felt better during fight I.

Drift back to 2009 and, though Marquez didn't manage to hassle Floyd, the difference in reflexes is apparent. He looked untouchable then. He looks beatable now. There isn't the same authority in ring centre. Admittedly, Maidana's arbitrary rhythm didn't help, but Floyd's punches are slower to boot.

Even without Pacquiao, the road to 49-0/50-0 is probably going to be a little tougher than once thought.

What you doing right now is underestimating Maidana and his style relevant to Mayweather's. For him to come through those two fights is a testament to his grit. Those were fights not boxing matches and he was in the grinder and came out on top. Who else fights like Maidana? Anybody that wants to box is still in trouble. One thing Maidana did expose is a way to beat that pull punch move and if any potential opponent was paying attention they would have noticed it. Mayweather needs to refine that move. I think that he can reach his goal of 49/0. As long as he don't let the pressure of hate about what he should and shouldn't be doing get to him and make him change his his style like he did in the first Maidana fight he will be fine.

Not before he fights pac. Pacquiao has also slipped so it's no excuse to justify not fighting pac.

What a great fight 2 guys who have both slipped, who have shitloads of money, and lack passion, but still Pacquiao by stoppage.
