Then I would look at winning percentage. If Floyd goes 50-0 that's a winning percentage of 100% which is better than Duran's, or SRR. You can argue that SRR fought more fights but if Floyd keeps beating young champions then you can also look at the amount of champions he has beaten and compare that to Duran and SRR.

I think at this point Floyd is at least in the same conversation with these guys. If he goes 50-0 then he can use his age factor and winning percentage to make his case. A 100% win percentage and fighting until age 40 is a really hard case to dispute.

Even if he were to fight Pacquiao and win 2 out of 3 he would be have an extremely high winning percentage yet it would do so much for his legacy that it would push him above Duran in my opinion. Depending on if Floyd can keep winning will determine where he stands.

Floyd is obviously extremely talented; an exceptional talent that comes along only very, very rarely.
I think his stock will rise years from now, once we can gauge his accomplishments better.

The best ever? Even if he was, he doesn't belong in an era where it can be proved. 47-0 is a great accomplishment, but guys like Robinson or Greb were only getting warmed up at 50 fights.
In the modern era it's extremely difficult to be compared to the greats of the past, because titles have been diluted in value and someone with 40 fights is considered a veteran.
But regardless, he IS a great talent and true lovers of the sport will recognise and appreciate it.

Beating Pac does nothing for Mayweather's legacy. It doesn't move him up the list one iota in my book. Winning the lineal middleweight championship over Cotto does more imo. That said, he would still be about top thirty on the atg list.

50 fights isn't what we look at. It's how many champions he beat in those 50 fights. What was his winning percentage? How long did he remain undefeated before his first loss?

SRR is the one guy who had a longer win streak with over 100 wins before his first loss. So you can argue that but how many fights go 50-0? Also how many fighters are winning in their late 30s? SRR was getting beat in his late 30s. If Floyd just keeps beating guys until 50-0 he can say he was beating better guys at a more advanced age than SRR with a higher overall winning percentage when he retired.

If he goes 50-0, and beats Khan, Thurman, GGG, retires at 40 undefeated, how would you not put him #1? He would have the highest possible winning percentage and will have probably beaten more champions than SRR too.

SRR beat a lot of guys when he was young and in his prime but he will not have beaten as many champions as Floyd will have the chance to beat.

lol Forget about Khan and Thurman. If he beats GGG, he would probably move up a couple of notches to about 25 in my book but this still pales in comparison to what Ray Robinson did. I don't think a modern fighter can ever be considered greater than Robinson.

You can name 25 guys who beat more champions, were dominant for longer, retired undefeated?

Maidana was a champion. Cotto and Canelo were champions. The ghost Robert Guerrero was a champion. Even Victor Ortiz was a champion.

Everyone Floyd has been beating in the past several years has been a champion and some of them great champions such as Cotto, Marquez, Mosley, DLH, or just very good multi weight champions like Hatton, Maidana.

If Floyd keeps beating guys like this then how many more champions does he need to beat to be #1 TBE? Does he have to be beating young guys into his 40s like Hopkins?

No if he took the hardest fights at the right time he could certainly crack the top 10, If Floyd beat Pacquiao back in 2009, beaten Mosley and ODLH around 2000, beaten prime Tszyu, Margarito, prime Cotto, go up to MW and beat prime Martinez or GGG. If he did all these things he'd be easily in most people's top 10 but he didn't do any of these things instead he filled his bull**** unbeaten record with guys like Ortiz, Gurrero, Baldomir, Gatti, Brusseles. Era has nothing to do with it, SRL had 40 fights, RJJ after 50 fights had beaten Toney, Bhop, McCallum, Tarver, Griffin ect so don't give me that bull**** about how guys from the modern era can't be compared to past greats less fights didn't stop SRL from being in everybodys top 10 nor would it Floyd had he taken the right fights.

A champion because there is 4 ****ing belts, it's like saying Pacquiao is better then Armstrong because he won belts at more weights, yes he did but he beat guys like David Diaz for some belts, Everyone knows being a champion doesn't mean your a great fighter hell Broner was a 3 weight world champion but he isn't even in the top 500 fighters ever or anything near it.

So you're saying because there are 4 belts that beating a champion is easier than it once was? That isn't really proven because there could be more talented boxers boxing than there one was precisely because there are more belts. There are more basketball teams than when the Celtics won the championships but it doesn't mean it's easier to win a championship with more teams.

I think there are a lot more fighters so there are a lot more belts. Statistically it doesn't matter how many belts there are but the records of the fighters you beat and whether they had a lineal belt.

Armstrong isn't being compared to Pacquiao. But if we are going to compare Floyd to Armstrong you can look at the fact that Armstrong has way more losses to guys who Floyd would never have lost to.

You look at winning percentage not just the belts. So far Floyd has never lost so you can't take any points away from a person with a perfect record. All Floyd has to do is keep beating guys and he goes up the ATG ranking if you're objective about it.

This post wasnt about who is the greatest in terms of opposition, Foyd is far behind others!

This post was questioning the integrity of each era before 2002 (drug testing was introduced) even when Gloves weren't checked properly etc

My suggestion was Floyd has proved himself in the most transparent era in the history of boxing so could claim the TBE

I referenced Lewis as a guy who at 38 was fighting dangerous fighters such a Vitali, I wasn't trying to compare him to either Duran or Floyd in terms of legacy.

You do know that Duran fought until 49 and some of those fights were well into is 40's. You know that right? He rematched Lawlor and beat him when he was 49 and the first fighter to fight into 5 decades and won a super middle weight belt. This is a guy who started off boxing at 118.

Duran beat Barkley at this age which was a hell of a lot harder than fighting the likes of Canelo, Cotto or Maidana.

Barkley would have annihilated any of those 3 fighters. Barkley had just beaten Hearns ffs. You're seriously considering Floyd's win against Maidana on par with Duran's win against Barkley? Did you participate in the thread on that, cause about 85% of those who did disagreed with your assessment. In fact Duran's win against Barkley easily beats ANY win Floyd has on his resume.

Why don't you watch Duran against Barkley then perhaps we can have an intelligent conversation. All you did was look up Boxrec, that much is obvious.

You can make that argument but winning percentage and who you beat in terms of opposition does matter.

Floyd has a perfect winning percentage so if he takes the right fights he really could be TBE. Suppose he pulls a Hopkins and fights into his 40s beating everyone?
