The concept of a exclusive network PPV is a severely outdated concept. PPV across the board is down for everyone, from the UFC to WWE to Boxing.

There used to be PPV for movies, but that concept evolved a long time ago, but PPV for boxing still persist at its regular state.

$75 to pay for a boxing card is ridiculous. For $75, you can buy a ticket to a basketball game. There needs to be an evolution for PPV that can target the masses. Put it on youtube for a low (around $10) price and get 10 million buys instead of 750k.

I have not bought a PPV in a long time and I doubt I'll order another in the future.

And the Pac/Algiri PPV will do fine. Arum is targeting the global market, unlike ShowTime. If any of you have read up on it, Arum is going to sell the PPV in China for about $6, in addition to the PPV in the US. That fight could very well generate more revenue than the Mayweather/Maidiana II.

What we need are $6 PPVs. If not, then $10.

The Algieri fight will be lucky to do 300k. No way it does close to 500k. None.

That makes far better business sense, imagine how much potential business they are missing out on by charging as much as they do. What's preferable barely a million pay 60 to 80 or 3 maybe 4 paying 15 to 20. If they want more fans make it affordable for them, boxing fans do seem to be more working class.

There are variations on the list i gave but it still basically involves Mayweather, Pac, Canelo and Cotto being matched together.

The problem is they're more likely to put the price up and count on the boxing hardcore to keep buying.

It's like they put this PPV from $70 to $78 as they know Mayweather has a following who would probably buy his PPV's even if they were $100.

Would there even be 3 or 4 million people to buy boxing PPV's at $15/20? i honestly don't think so, that's why they'd rather go for higher priced PPV's and hope they sell a million.

Problem is, Mayweather has gone past his expiry date and even the hardcore are no longer buying so it's either the Pac fight next or Showtime will probably bail from the deal.

Lets say they manage to sell 800k @ $75, that's what $60mil return? The same as:
    1mil @ $60
    1.2mil @ $50
    1.5mil @ $40
    2mil @ $30
    3mil @ $20
    4mil @ $15

There has SURELY got to be a more acceptable price point than what it was set at, and bet of all if they sold it at $30 or less they'd almost certainly set a PPV record (thus fan fare and gloating).

Well....I've never seen that for a big fight. I couldn't even buy the fight with my cable distributor. From what I've heard, this was the related to Viewer's choice decision of not showing the fight. From that point, I've bought it on PS4 to watch it live but the problem was that I got screw big time since it never worked. At least, I had a refund...

And this is the thing that the *****s dont understand. Floyds has the personality and like ablility of a poop stained mattress. Do you realize how big boxing would be right now if Floyd wasnt such a dip****? Why doesnt floyd have a Nike contract with commercials running all the time on espn? why isnt he on the cover of his own Boxing video game like tiger woods? why isnt he doing charity work out in the public eye and speaking about and standing behind causes? oh yeah all his charity he does quietly because he doesnt want the attention. gtfoh!

Floyd had the chance to take boxing back to a level of relevancy not seen since the 80`s and early 90`s but didnt because of his ego and lack of education which has come to light recently. Floyd was the worst thing to happen to boxing while at the same time the best thing as far as the money he generates. Manny being such a huge star also helped floyd as people continued to watch floyd fights hoping the next fight would be the fight against manny but that fight never came just the way floyd planned.

I think the fightere who could save boxing from the damage floyd has done is a fighter like Kieth Thurman if he gets to fight the fights that matter and becomes the dominant fighter of the next era.

Another fighter as ridiculous as it sounds who could save boxing in this country could be Dontay Wilder. If he could not only win a title but beat Klitchko and do so impressively that would be HUGE! for boxing.

Boxing needs a savior and i really hope it happens soon.

And what people don't realize is with more people watching , the more they can charge for advertisements (think Super Bowl), and still keep the ppvs affordable

More truth to it than many will admit. If I was an American I'd be very worried about the boxing scene that id get to watch over the next 10 years. There's going to fewer American faces and more Latinos and Eastern Europeans.
