who needs a fight defining punch? much better than a fat retired 37 year old never achiever did in under 200 seconds, so an undisputed long term world champ does better. there is no how about it, it just does.
Mr. Sanders had a lot of power and speed and Wlad got caught. It's not like Mr. Johnson was always the victor.
its not like mr sanders got anywhere near the hw champ of the world until he was shit4shot retired and then met wlad for a fake title challenge.
Surely Wlad's prime has been his 10 year undefeated streak? Certainly wasn't against Purrity or Sanders, although you could make a claim that he was during Brewster I (avenged)
He had a version of the title when he lost to Purrity and was undefeated. I think Wlad is a stylisitc nightmare for Johnson and have said so on my thread, which 5 heavyweights are wrong for Johnson? That doesn't mean it is a foregone conclusion.Wlad's opposition has been dire imo. he has a ten year winning streak? Guess what, so had Johnson and fighting all over the world not protected by referees that let him lay all over his challengers.
Johnson did lay on his challengers! Wlad's 'version of the world title' is not important. It was a bogus title. Johnson's opposition was also dire. Seems you've picked a few weird points to base your argument on to be frank Sir.
No he tied them up which was legal ,Wlad's performance against Dimitrenko was lamentable and illegal, outside Germany he would have been penalised. To be frank.:good
Wlad never fought Dmitrienko. If you're talking about Povetkin, that was outside of Germany, in Povetkin's home country of Russia! And Wlad did have a point taken away. I do agree that Wlads clinching is pretty damn terrible, but in a hypothetical matchup with Johnson it's another telling sign that Wlad wouldn't be outgunned in any facet of the game, in my opinion at least :good
no ones prime is in their late 30s...36? 37? no way. even Hopkins peaked in his early 30s though he has somehow slowed his decline inexorably. His prime was late 20s to early 30s, that's when he possessed the combo of greatest physical abilities, plus had been in boxing enough years to be very experienced. Just because Wlad was getting serial destroyed instantly by journeymen and nobodies, ths doesn't mean this wasn't his prime - it means that even his absolute physical peak wasn't good enough to beat them, more to get pulverised by them early on. This is wlad. But credit for beating povetkin and haye, they were decent opponents for title defences in this '10 year streak'. 10 years is a long time to make 2 or 3 decent defences. They will be calling him Wlad Calslappy next.
Dominated at every range regardless, and Povetkin couldn't take advantage of the openings when they were there. So throwing Wlad out wouldn't have proven anything. Wlad didn't need to clinch against Haye, Wach and Austin. He's not a completely shite cheater.
