The way Povetkin was coming it didn't exactly help. That said, Waldo KD'd him with a single hook, pretty impressive as Povetkin was claiming he had never been down. This is the best of all possible worlds.
Jack Johnson would school him, just like he did Tommy Burns. Better to ask could Wlad beat Burns ? I doubt it.
Yeah, he recovered, and before and after put on a clinic with hardly any clinching. Wach tested for 'roids after the fight, and was bigger than Wlad, which shows he doesn't just beat up smaller men (not a comparison to Johnson, just an answer to certain criticisms of Wlad's opposition) Haye also ran the whole fight, but I guess that form of negativity is okay?
You think Wlad could overcome the huge skill discrepancy against Burns? It's possible, I s'pose. But more likely we'd see Tommy box his way to a clear decision.
I think Wlad could split decision Burns with a ref on his side and lots of wrestling and running. by that I mean new improved post Manny Wlad who would proceed to run round the ring in fear from Burns who he outweights by over 100 pounds/five divisions for 10 rounds until Tom gasses and then wlad bombs him out. It would look like an inverse kinda Benny Hill show with a giant running away from a midget for 10 rounds, but wlad wins this way. In no universe should wlad get in the ring with Johnson however!
Wach is one of the worst title challengers I have ever seen, I still don't know what he was doing anywhere near a title shot. Haye's performance was absolutely disgraceful imo he left his balls back in the UK. He was still there at the end though ,which is a black mark against Wlad imo, he just doesnt have the nuts to go for it , just contents himself with peck peck pecking away.Built like Superman with the fighting desire of Mickey Mouse.
Wlad is remarkably skilled. All Time Great jab, best footwork of any superheavy, great right hand, hooks off the jab, excellent understanding of distance and pace... If I have to point this out to you, perhaps take up following another sport. Does he have deficiencies? Absolutely. They just don't have anything to do with his skill level.
1) Haye fell to the canvas by himself, multiple times. 2) Wach (6'7 1/2, 250 lbs.), who was on PEDs got a clean shot on him and Wlad still didn't go down.
Don't get me wrong, Wlad has plenty of skill for this era. But when comparing him to a man of Tommy Burns quality, nevermind Jack Johnson, he's certainly several levels below in terms of skills. Those guys would probably tie him up in a knot - and have him in one of his anxiety panic attacks - before they even landed a punch. It's the art of feignting against the art of fainting.
