Nah, Dawson got rough with the slam and Hopkins tried to draw a DQ. Not a knockout, just a mess.

-Nah, I know you. You have a very preditable act. If Marciano fought and KOed Young, you would be in this thread saying Young was KOed by Earnie Savers quicker, Cooney stopped him too, he lost 19 fights, he's really a LHW he had multiple fights under 190 pounds, blah blah blah ..etc.

-You calling Moore a liar? You often post Archie Moore quotes and take his word as gospel on other matters.

'I had another fight I am ashamed of and that was against Len Morrow, the second time I fought him. In our first fight, I landed a low punch and extended both arms in apology. While I was wide open he threw a sneak right hand shot that hit me square in the kisser. A year later I fought him in Toledo and punched him into the hospital. In the seventh round I knew I had him and I could put him away at any time. But I was mean and angry at him, so I waited until the tenth. But I was a little too mean. He got concussion and nearly died. He has never been any good in the ring since then. I'm sorry for that.'

I'm just quoting box rec's report, if you believe Moore's version do you believe his version of the Marciano 2rd knockdown where he said Harry Kessler, the referee gave Marciano an illegal standing count ,then gave him a shake to bring him to his senses before letting Moore get at him?

Or are you "selective" about what you choose to believe?
I don't take Moore's word on anything unless it is corroborated by ringside reports .I beleive him when he said his legs were gone for the Marciano

fight because it is patently obvious his foot work was the bare minimum. I beleive he hurt Maciano who admitted it himself,I don't beleive the referee's actions cost him a knockout victory against Marano and I dont beleive his story bout the sucker punch and won't until I see it referred to in a contemporary report .

In his interview with Pete Heller,Moore gave his excuses for being kod by Bivins and they jive with the facts. He never mentioned the first Morrow fight at all ,strange.:think
It goes without saying you accept it without question because it suits your obvious agenda
If you beleive Moore' sage as provided by himself you are calling his Mother a liar.
On the matter of believing someone's word,I wouldnt accept yours if it was engraved on tablets of stone, being carried by Charlton Heston.
About time for some more insults from you isnt it? Or are you contenting yourself with your puerile blah blah blah's?

-I don't think Moore is a liar. I think he certainly believes Marciano got a break. Looking at from his point of view in the ring, I'm sure he was fired up, smelling blood, and was like "I got him! what the hell is ref doing!"

-I don't accept anything without question nor would I expect anyone else to. But it seems like a plausible story that shouldn't be completely disregarded. Morrow seemed to be on his way to becoming a terrific fighter regardless. I wouldn't rule out the possiblity of Morrow catching Moore cold. He had KO wins over Billy Smith, Ftizpatrick, and Godoy as well.

But you are suggesting Morrow hit harder than Maricano because he KOed Moore quicker 7 years earlier? That's what you are implying and its rather simplistic and naive.

-Yes, I said the Foreman thread was a wankfest. Get over it. For somebody who constantly trashes other posters, freely hurls insults, and maintains a nasty bitter tone, you sure are sensitive.

and why did Levi Billips go the distance with him, Billips was Ko'd in 1 by Corrie Sanders,Ko3 by Michael Moorer, Orlin Norris in 1, Vitali K in 2 and Witherspoon in 1 also Ko'd by Jeremy Williams

:patsch Joe Louis took some guys the distance that were KO'd by others. You could say the Same for Sonny Liston.

The films and KO% shows Rocky was a great puncher. Rocky moved people violently when he landed. Perhaps not the most accurate puncher. Perhaps not cunning puncher, but a very good one for sure.

Oh wait, you're the guy who thinks Marciano was slow handed.

I'm suggesting zero concerning Leonard Morrow ,all I know about him is a couple of lines on box rec. Don't make my argument for me ,you have enough trouble cogitating your own.

I'm far from sensitive and I don't whine to other posters with excuses, when I am pulled up for childish insults ,thats your M .O.

"Moore was kod in one round by lhvy Leonard Morrow when he was a prime31 years old"

Given the context of this statment it is clearly a suggestion that Morrow hit harder than Marciano based on the result. Which is again, naive and overly simplistic.

Your continued faux outrage over that post is cute and amusing in a crazy old man way. If you can loudly fart and poop pants everytime you get outraged by it, you would have quite the act.

Louis didn't take guys the distance, some took him.

Do ****ell and Moore go 9 rds with Foreman?
    Does Lastarza go 11rds?
How about Walcott and Charles, does one go 13rds the other the full15rds? The question I posed on thiso thread is:

Was Marciano a dynamite one punch finisher? On the evidence available I say no.

I said on this thread he had average handspeed .
Compared to many heavyweights I think Marciano has slow hands.

He was described as being slow afoot ,and of hand .Who by?
    Charley Goldman.

In your determination to make my age an issue you entirely missed the point of my mentioning Morrow. It is to demonstrate that even a prime Moore was not particularly durable, nothing at all to do with Morrow's punching power as it compares to Marciano's .

It's hard work both making my case and then having to explain it to you.
If you spent more time absorbing the points instead of trying to score off them in your immature, and singularly unsuccessful way, you would be up to speed and not have to be coached in this fashion.
Fart and poop ? More asinine toilet talk ,akin to children swearing for the first time ah,bless:blabla
I'm not outraged by your childish banter ,having 7 grand-children , I'm always prepared to cut kids some slack.

But if you are presenting the case of "Marciano was not Dynamite because Morrow knocked out Moore quicker a long time ago," You are certainly comparing Marciano's power negatively to Morrow. There's no way around it. You don't even seem to know what you are saying anymore.

You know, they say old age is a return to infancy. So I guess you have to learn life's golden rules all over again. I'll induldge. "In the future McVey, if you are rude to people, don't be shocked if they are rude to you in return."

What it boils down to is that rather or not Moore had been knocked out in the past or not, he had a 7 year run heading into the Marciano fight in which he was never knocked out and may have suffered just one knockdown to Johnson.

So regardless of the reasons, he was apparently not an easy guy for LHWs or HWs to drop or knockout in this timeframe. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that it took a huge effort from Marciano to finally put him down. With his back to the ropes, Moore is moving and rolling with everything Rocky is throwing at him, making him miss in bunches. The knockdown punches aren't really clean fully torqured shots, they are short clipping arm punches that Rocky is having to adjust to land on the elusive target. Finally, the double left hook lands clean on Moore's jaw, putting him down for good.
