How about we do the reverse: Why don't YOU name all these other Welter Weights in their late 30's who are showing no signs of decline and still fighting at the same level as they did in their 20's.

    I'll wait.

Father time is undefeated. Floyd is young for a 37 year old boxer but he is still 37. He is still on top thanks to his great ring skills/IQ and being in a weak era. But he is past his prime.

Hopkins is a freak of nature to be competing at such a high level at 49. But likewise with Mayweather, he is past his prime, which was the late 90s/early 00s.

    I'm with you on this:yep

He looks like a man who is bored with it all & now wants out, I def think that personal issue's have dulled the edge of Floyd juxtaposed with age. Least we forget that if a C level thug like Maidana can put it to Mayweather, then the whole fragile mental house of cards is a tumbling down inside Floyds head, this was not supposed to happen, Floyds team had the road map all laid out to relatively easy no risk riches & along comes Maidana who made life pretty hard for floyd.

I think the squablles with 50cent & all the parasitic crap around him is having some negative effect, Floyd needs & craves his cheerleaders, but the whole show & foundation of TBE/Money team is on shaky ground, Floyd now feels & looks vulnerable, he's not happy, after the fight in the interview, he talked like a man who had just dodged the bullet, he wants out & no amount of money will ever get him in the same ring with Pacquiao, so we can forget that one. His confidence seems shot to bits, his team will make sure that he gets away unscathed for his 2 remaining fights, but that's gonna be easier said than done.

The 1st Maidana fight, some could say was just a bad day at the office, that's allowed,...but...not 2 bad days at the office....yeh yeh yeh, we all know Floyd won 18 rounds to 6 over both fights, but it's that 1st fight with Maidana that has done the mental damage, no one can call Floyd a fool, he knows he's now in deeper water, the sharks are closing in, he wants out!

    Exactly.

Kobe Bryant can't stay on the court without leg injuries, Dwyane Wade can't jump anymore, Deter Jeter can barely react to a hit ball at SS, and Peyton Manning can barely throw a football 30 yards without a strong wind behind him, but these dudes are questioning why a professional fighter in his late 30's is 'declining'.

    Hilarious.

slight loss of reflexes. you can easily tell. a step slower in ofensive and defensive reactions. still pretty darn good but at this point, he should stay away from 160. and i have always thought he could win a belt there but now its dangerous

I hate to break it to you, but what Hopkins is doing isn't typical.

Everyone ages differently. You have Hopkins and Holyfield, who are able to fight at the top level in their 40s-50s, then you have fighters like Tyson and Wilfred Benitez, who peaked early, and were considered past their primes in their mid 20s.

Also, Hopkins is a LHW, and used to fight at MW. Floyd started his career at SFW, and is now a WW/JMW. It's harder for a fighter in the lower weight classes to fight at the top level as they age than it is for a fighter in a higher weight class.

He's old damn near 38. Where were Pea, RJJ, Zoo, Oscar, JCC Jr, Tito, Winky at 38? Even at this age he's still the best in the sport a true testament to his greatness.
