Here are four options at Jr Featherweight new IBF Champion Carl Frampton. =================================== SCOTT QUIGG Why fight Quigg? Quigg would be a huge domestic showdown and payday for Frampton. Quigg for what it's worth also holds a paper WBA 'regular' belt. Why not fight Quigg? Quigg is demanding nothing less than a 50/50 split, despite the fact Frampton is a bigger ticket seller, Quigg's promoter Eddie Hearn holds the monopoly with British broadcaster Sky Sports, and Frampton's contract with Boxnation has expired. Further more if he has to fight Quigg next, with the colder months approaching the outdoor arena's in Ireland are out of the question and the indoor arena's aren't big enough to house it, meaning Frampton would likely have to travel. Hearn is also trying to get a rematch clause in there. Chances? Frampton would be installed as the slight favorite. The Jackal is open to the body, where Quigg attacks are extremely effective, however Frampton is quicker and has better lateral movement, the thinking here is Frampton beats Quigg to the punch. =================================== LEO SANTA CRUZ Why fight LSC? Santa Cruz is the WBC champ and is becoming well known to International audiences because of appearing on a few Mayweather undercards. A win over Santa Cruz will raise his profile on the world scene in what will probably be an exciting fight. Why not fight Santa Cruz? Santa Cruz would demand an extremely large fee to come over to the UK, as he is making huge money fighting easy fights. If Frampton goes to the US to fight Santa Cruz, Cruz is advised by Al Haymon, so provided Santa Cruz can finish the fight on his feet he may well be awarded the win regardless of what happens in the 12 rounds prior. Chances? Would probably be close to 50/50 with the bookmakers. I would favor Frampton on a close but clear decision with fair judging but as mentioned above, that could depend on where the fight took place. =================================== CHRIS AVALOS Why fight Avalos? Avalos is the mandatory for the IBF title and a fight with him would keep the IBF happy for a while longer, giving Frampton the chance to fight a voluntary after. He could use it as a stay busy fight if he doesn't want to go to England and fight Quigg and wait until next Summer and fight him in an outdoor arena. Avalos is growing in reputation for a win wouldn't be totally insignificant... Why not fight Avalos?...but is less significant than the other three mentioned. It's also a fight that nobody is particularly interested in. Chances? Frampton would be installed as a big favorite. Avalos is a decent puncher with an unorthodox attack but will likely be out of his depth against The Jackal. =================================== GUILLERMO RIGONDEAUX Why fight Rigo? The elephant in the room, Rigo is the number 1 in the division, the WBO, WBA Super and lineal champion. He's is a pound for pound level fighter and a win over Rigo would be a huge win on his resume and Frampton would garner worldwide respect from hardcore fans. Why not fight Rigo? The risk of Rigo, hugely outweighs the reward. The money available for the fight would be closer to Avalos than Quigg or Santa Cruz and the fight is 20x more difficult. Even in a victory, Frampton is unlikely to convert many casual fans to become huge Frampton followers. Rigondeaux's style doesn't make for fan friendly fights, and is little known outside of hardcore fans and speaks little English which would likely make the bout promotion uneventful too. Chances? Frampton would be a big underdog, while Rigondeaux is not totally invincible (he was dropped by Donaire and Corrdoba, and rocked by Marroquin) he is a truly elite fighter who is very hard to tag. The most likely outcome is an uneventful Rigo UD.
:good He is defiantly more deserving of a world title shot that Manuel Roman anyway. I believe he is in the top 10 in the IBF rankings, and Otake is also rated 2nd I believe, perhaps they could have a domestic clash as an IBF Eliminator to get themselves into position once Avalos is out of the way.
Quigg should be the top priority it'll make him a lot of money in the UK, and may even get him noticed in the states, in a Froch Groves kind of way, without the controversial ending. That will raise his level of notoriety, therefore making him a appealing fight to Santa Cruz or Rigo. Who gives a **** about Avalos. Frampton wil easily outbox LSC, though he may get caught with something big along the way, I'm not sure but I think LSC is a level above Kiko both in power and chin. Frampton I think has what it takes to beat Rigo, if anyone can. LSC and Frampton will surely give his glass chin a test, if they eventually fight him.
He's got to fight Avalos sooner or later or he will be stripped of his title. In his shoes what I would do (assuming I win these fights): 1. Have the big domestic showdown with Quigg. Hearn is offering 2 fights, first one this year in England, next one in the Summer in Ireland, with the winner having a 60/40 split of the second fight. I'd take that deal and fight Quigg. 2. Get the mando out of the way with Avalos, early next year. Perhaps try and get it in the US on an undercard of a big fight to get name recognition across the Atlantic. 3. Assuming the 1st fight wasn't a complete battering do the Quigg rematch in Ireland. 4. Probably have to do another mando before but late 2015, unify with Leo Santa Cruz in a big fight in the US 5. After that, I would've probably made the big money, and can look at trying to beat Rigondeaux without him seriously damaging my earning potential should he win a stinker (plus with a bit of luck he might've aged)
Otake injured. He got fight lined up for when he return. Wake fight circle around Otake who defensive shell fighter, not good against pot shot man.horrible fight if it get made.
Rigo is the easiest fight to make. Rigo is ready willing and able to fight Carl today. His IRISH manager Gary Hyde from Cork Ireland says the two WILL fight! it's just a question of when! While Rigo would be the one Carl should LEAST want to fight, bizarrely he might be the one that actually ends up getting Carl into a ring first. If politics and money gets too troublesome with LSC, or Even Quigg, those two might lose out to Rigo in the race for Frampton.
I do as it goes, but then there is an element of doubt because his opposition hasn't been nearly as good as Frampton's. I'd certainly say that Santa Cruz has faster hands than Framton, I think he's more accurate as well.
Interesting theory. But to me Santa Cruz is a brawler, That's like saying Margarito could outbox, well, anyone. If LSC choose to box against Frampton (which I doubt) he'd be given a boxing lesson.
