Sturm has been one of the best MWs of recent times and been a major factor in the MW division for the last decade. Sturm is getting older but if he carries the weight well at SMW, he could possibly go on to do well at SMW. If Sturm beats Steiglitz and Abraham convincingly...
define "one of the best MWs of recent time" he's never beaten anyone of note, but he's certainly lost to some also-rans, and he's avoided the top players at MW his entire career he's been a "major factor in the MW division for the last decade" only because you know he's still around, but you also know that he won't do **** - sorta like 'where's wally' in crowd photos
You have some obsession with Sturm. Remember when you said Martinez was champ beating top fighters and Sturm had beaten and fought nobody of note and I then revealed how out of Martinez then 7 world title fights sturm had fought 4 of them, some before some after and with mixed results between them. I then pointed to all of Sturms other fights and some of his greater wins and you had no answer. Do you really want another schooling? thought I would ask first
I only don't answer you when I am logged out, sometimes for weeks at a time - so let's go for the schooling since i'll be on for a while today and you may see this but i'm not talking about 'join the dots' connection fights that make it look like sturm has/is/was/will ever fight opponents of the caliber of Hopkins, Martinez, paul Williams, pavlik, golovkin (yes, the one who was even in the same stable as sturm for a time) or jermain taylor (you know, the big players at MW, none of whom sturm fought even though he held a paper belt since the reign of Hopkins) if you think that sturm looking good against opponents than a higher profile fighter did lifts him to a status he never achieved, and never wanted to achieve, dream on your move
Sturm has great wins ? do you mean the close points lose vs welterweight Del La Hoya or the close points win vs old Castillejo or the resent KO over injured Baker ?? or the robberys vs Gevor and Macklin Sturm was also the one that ducked GGG since 2009/2010
One shower of rain doesnt make a bad summer. Likewise one poor performance in the ring against one very awkward opponent hardly constitute "Absolute Proof" that a fighter at Sturms level is completely washed up to the extent he needs to give up boxing entirely. Hes always blown hot and cold even in his prime. Granted if he still stinks in his next fight - that will be two-in-a-row and will then maybe be grounds for him quitting for good. Bear in mind he looked GREAT his 2 previous fights and there might actually be a perfecty valid reason - that we dont know - for the awfulness.
