"BT: Champ, during the post-fight press conference, it sounded like you were thinking about maybe taking a little break. Are you still planning on fighting next May?

FM: Yes, I plan on fighting in May."

Floyd isn't used to fighting this frequently.....remember, Floyd likes to fight at a moderate pace inside the ring.....That probably includes how frequently he fights.

For MOST.......fighting once a year isn't enough. Boxers need to fight frequently because in this sport your edges can dull quickly if you don't keep them sharp.

But Floyd is built differently....he's a gym rat...he stays in shape all year round even if he's not in camp preparing for a fight. So he stays sharp and he doesn't add miles on the odometer.

What Floyd said after the rematch was he gave himself a "C-". Which for Floyd is telling....Floyd usually doesn't get so critical of his performances....but he must have felt his body wasn't responding to the aggressive schedule he has with SHO.

Floyd fighting once a year isn't enough for us as fans......but for Floyd, that's better for his overall health as a fighter.

    :good

I was in Las Vegas for the fight Mayweather vs. Maidana 2, and this hotel new hotel talk was everywhere. They had monitors in the MGM showing Floyd at ceremonies for the new hotel.

(Though he could fight Khan in May, Garcia in September to move to 49-0 and then last fight to go for 50 vs. Pac

I hear you on this one, however, there is a 6 month gap between September and May; which gives him about 3.5/4 months of rest, a couple weeks to announce his opponent and kick off the press tour, and then about 2 months for training camp.

Whereas May and September is only 4 months in between, so only 2 months of rest, then right back to training camp.

it's probly because Espinoza is putting a lot of pressure on him to fight Pacquiao.

:good Doesn't seem like much when you put it like that. Floyd is getting up there...he really hasn't taken much punishment over 18 years but father time affects everyone differently and at different times.......have a grueling career definitely accelerates when "he" makes his presence felt but Floyd is already past the normal expiration date of prize fighters. He's almost 38. Floyd may be serious about September 15th being it.

SHO would definitely notice. I'm not sure what kind of contract Floyd has with them but 2 fights a year he mentioned was the pace until his 6 fight contract was up. If he misses May and fights in September....he still has a single fight left he's obligated to fight before the end of 2015. He can do it....but that's a very tight window between Sept to Dec 31st.

Maybe or it could be he cant mess with Cotto-Canelo period, or he really wants to break in new Arena with the Pac fight.

He's probably going to use the time off to hang with his new business partners' Al Haymon, War-ren Buffet, and Schaefer to put together their GBP & TR busting, world dominating strategy for the up and coming Global Sports Promotion powerhouse, Mayweather Promotions.

floyd found out that ellerbe was negotiating the pac fight with oscar and fired him... and if you ask for a source is bernardo osuna Nacion ESPN last night..
floyd wants schaefer on his team so that he never has to deal with Top Rank or Pacquiao...
