:deal I can't wait to see how the TOMATO KAN Krusher's bandwagon gets abandoned after the Ole' Man takes him to school...
Hopkins' longevity is special.. And it makes it a close call.. In my opinion the deal breaker was that Roy has a victory over Hopkins at MW, and Hopkins priced himself out of a fight with Roy 2002 because he knew he would lose IMO. Roy is the greater fighter.
Hopkins is greater then Jones in my opinion what he has done is pretty much unbelivable. If you could go back in time 15 years ago when he was 33 and ask around if you could imagine hopkins winning over the light heavyweight champion(twice) , middleweight champion before the age of 49 there wouldn't be many who belived it. He's the defenition of an legend and an all time great. h2h there's not many who could take on Jones.
This is NOT a unification bout. But this win would be massive to his career. If he wins this, he should go unify with Stevenson. No matter what happens there, retire afterwards He has nothing more ever to prove.
I respect your opinion. Longevity is a major factor when ranking a guy. But it's only one factor. There are also many other factors to consider. I don't see how Hop is greater. Roy achieved more etc.
But how can that surpass what Roy's done? Do you agree with my criteria? Is there anything you'd add, or take away? :good
H2H, Prime 2 Prime, Jones will always be greater. That's just the way it is. Hopkins has much better longevity, but he is well out of his prime. No shame in that anyway, prime Jones was immense.
Rate their wins, their manner of victory, their achievements, their dominance, their circumstances etc. Put forward a case where Hop rates higher. Floyd has incredible longevity, and Ray Leonard didn't. Who would you rate higher? There's so many factors to consider.
