Honestly this is laughable please enlighten us with what win ? Name one win that's better than a prime Toney not longevity 1 win ? I'll wait
Roy beat a better version of Tarver than Hopkins did IMO.. Not making excuses for Antonio as I hate him, but he didn't look right in that fight against Hopkins.
Hopkins' longevity is extraordinary, but Roy's prime abilities are just as extraordinary in a different way. Roy also accomplished more in a shorter time than Hopkins did.. Roy was already a former HW champion by the time Hopkins moved up to LHW. Has what Hopkins done at LHW since enough to eclipse everything Roy has done? I think not. Not to mention, Roy has a H2H win at MW.. Hopkins victory over Roy at LHW means nothing, Roy was shot, and coming off a first round KO loss to an average fighter, and not to mention Hopkins stunk that fight up.
Ok... Bit of a strange one. Also you do know Pacquiao has forced people to come in lower than the weight limit too right? Personally I've got no time for catch weights ever. There are more than enough divisions now.
65 fights, 55 wins, 6 loses, 2 draws, 2 NC Never been KO'ed Never been beat up, EVER Became first UNDISPUTED MW Champion since Hagler and defended Undisputed title 6 times. Surpassed Carlos Monzon's division record of 14 defense. At 40 years old, Hopkins reached the middleweight record of 20 title defenses Surpassed George FOreman as the world's oldest boxer to win a championship Surpassed Archie Moore Oldest boxer to win a world title
IBF Middleweight Champion (160 lbs) IBF Super Middleweight Champion (168 lbs) WBC Light Heavyweight Interim Champion (175 lbs) WBC Light Heavyweight Champion (175 lbs) (2) WBC Light Heavyweight Champion (175 lbs) WBA Light Heavyweight Champion (175 lbs) IBF Light Heavyweight Champion (175 lbs) WBA Heavyweight Champion (+200 lbs) (3) WBC Light Heavyweight Champion (175 lbs) (2) WBA Light Heavyweight Champion (175 lbs) The Ring Light Heavyweight Champion (175 lbs) BWAA Fighter of the Decade 1990–1999 Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year-1994 Best Boxer ESPY Award 1996 Best Boxer ESPY Award 2000 Best Boxer ESPY Award 2003 I understand Hopkins' longevity is great... But it does not eclipse the above achievements. And the above don't disappear because Roy faded and lost fights.
if he beats kovalev? i would say yes. i'm surprised that he's even getting after kovalev, let alone winning. i personally rate hopkins' chances of pulling off the win as low.. so, if he should win.. or: i wouldn't even want to see jones vs kovalev. that would be a legal assault against roy.
Undisputed lt hw champ. Twice ! 1ST. aftet he beat reggie johnson 2nd when he came back down from Hw and Tarver
Sorry, but that is incorrect...... Additionally Hopkins has been THE Middleweight and THE Light Heavyweight Champion. Roy was just a trinket belt holder at 160, 168, 175, and Heavyweight.
Who did Hopkins beat to become THE Light Heavyweight champion? And I will also like to add, that Roy Jones is the only boxer in history to become a trinket belt holder in all of those divisions.
The belt that Stevenon holds went through RJJ Jones was already the man at LHW Long before Hopkins decided to return to the division he started in.. Hopkins stayed far away from LHW when. Jones was at the too of his game ..
Not hard to do when there are 4 belts per Division and you can handpick the easier fights. SRR and other ATG's didn't have that luxury.
