What a waste... I'd be interested what the official rankings will do/or not do.
    Personally I'd prob make him a *2b

Nope. And unless he lowers his demands I can't see him fighting anyone relevant enough to get back in it.

50 million pounds (which is over 80 million dollars) for a fight? :patsch

He believes that he is the one with a big name that a lot of fans want to watch.
He is NO PPV attraction unfortunately for him.

    Is there any precedence?

There should be an asterisk the size of Oakland next to his name in any ranking.

Yup. For me. EDIT: I mean "Yup, he will leave the rankings." So if I'm directly answering the thread, my one word response is actually "No."

I just hope people are consistent with this whichever they do. I think he def should drop out but I have heard arguments against dropping fighters after strictly one year... They better do the same to those who meet this criteria in the future and hopefully have done the same for those in the past.

IDK - there isn't any officially recognised (by the sanctioning bodies) P4P lists anyway - the s#it simply being impossible to verify with actual fights, so precedence is pretty irrelevent. However some sources (Boxrec in particular comes to mind) drop fighters from their rankings after a year of inactivity.

I'm not a big one for P4P anyway (it's pretty meaningless in my eyes) but certainly Wards inactivity doesn't do him any favours. If you do go in for P4P stuff you have to be asking yourself just how long past glories can maintain a fighters' status. 2 fights in 3 years - the last against relatively unproven prospect La Bomba? It just ain't enough for me.

Does Wards #2 status remain indefinitely even if he doesn't fight for another year? For me I think he should slip a bit - though I probably wouldn't drop he completely just yet, achievements from 3 or 4 years ago can only go so far when P4P is supposed (to my understanding at least) to measure who's the best right now.

At the end of the day, to remain relevant Ward needs to get his ass back in the ring.

Someone edited Wikipedia to list Andre Ward as a "semi-retired" boxer:lol:

Anyway, Forget about "in 2 month time…" how the heck is this guy still p4p#2 now on most lists…?
The dude has fought twice since 2011.

    No.

Might have the situation where Mayweather and Pac will be #1 and #2 again come November.

    Also from his wiki page:

Subsequently, he follows up with his claims of willing to defend his titles by fighting once in 2012, once in 2013 and likely not fighting in 2014 at all.

He'll only stay in the rankings for me if he has a fight scheduled by then. Otherwise, the #2 spot will probably go to Wlad after he beats Pulev.
