Mayweather will always be overly-criticised for his opposition due to the love him or hate him type of following he seems to have, and the fact that he proclaims himself as TBE so standards are high.

The two top 5-10 guys GGG has fought (Geale and Macklin) he disposed of them easily. Other top guys just wont fight him: The likes of Murray blank turned down an offer to fight GGG for his title and was going to fight on the undercard instead: Martinez is shot and chose the money fight vs Cotto (can't blame him) and Quillin and Strum also wants nothing to do with GGG. Rubio is a good solid top 10 guy and if GGG beats him, he will have a solid list of wins of a who's who of contenders who aren't title holders, who wont fight him through no fault of his own.

I don't get it - can you come up with a better resume for Golovkin given the known list of opponents who have either been unavailable (due to promotional problems, injury, visa issues etc) or have turned him down? Golovkin ain't Floyd who can offer $millions to get whoever he wants in the ring.

Sturm, Pirog, Martinez, Murray, Quillin, JCC Jr, Cotto, Soliman (and, possibly, Froch) - a roughly chronological list of potential GGG opponents who have been offered fights which have either fallen through or been refused.

Who should Golovkin fight? - Is Rubio a bad pick for you, or do you simply consider that Golovkin's already proven to be so far ahead of the MW pack that he needs to be looking at 168? I ain't trolling you or particularly defending GGGs resume which is conspicuously devoid of marquee names... literally, who do you think Golovkin should fight next?

Trust me, as a fan of GGG, I know very well about his situation and lack of opposition interested in facing him. I also do know that he was turned down by Murray, Martinez(when he was champion, though for justifiable and logical reasons) and others. I admit that his new group of fans seem to be nothing but trolls and virtual trash and that's what bothers me, not Golovkin himself.

You expect GGG to drag opponents into the ring and make them fight him? They over pay every single opponent just to get them in the ring with the monster.

I'm not sure you are being facetious or serious. If you are serious I doubt you know very much about boxing at all. Golovkin is a special fighter that only comes along once every 10-15 yrs. This guy I doubt will ever be beat not until age finally catches up with him. Too skilled, technical and way too much power. We will only see him get better as the top tier guys have no choice but to fight him, you can see the difference in his game with each outing. Everyone keeps screaming for Ward, I doubt Ward sees the 8th rd against Golovkin.

Ah...yeah. Annoying isn't it? You're probably already aware that a number of the most prolific GGG thread starters are simply trolls deliberately trying to incite dislike for the guy (and even some of the genuine fans lean real heavy towards irritating hyperbole), but FWIW I take your point.

Whoa now GGG is entertaining and an interesting prospect but Canelo more than likely takes him out after Cotto, GGG ain't beating these lower tier guys off skills he's beating them off fear not to say he doesn't have some skill but as it is in most cases once he runs into a fighter not caught up in the hype that can take a punch there is a good chance he looks ordinary. The Ward thing is probably wishful thinking as well it's a reason why GGG couldn't fight at 168 when Wards name came up and why his superfans get mad the second you mention him moving up.

canelo gets flattened, top 5 middleweights are not lower tier and ward is unavailable. apart from that, quality post.
