boxing is only a portiion of choketime. we are not talking about choketime as a whole, only boxing division under choketime. look, they have 2 fights , to turn this around. they lost money in the first 4 fights, cumulative, as a whole, no argument there. if they lose canelo to hbo and loses on the next 2 fights with flopjr, expinocha could get the boot. \ whoever is going to replace expinocha, he could recommend to either : slash the budget and not compete with hbo head to head or develop/llure anothe star or scrap the whole boxing division. now unto flopjr: if he chooses to stay course, as in, fight the same bums and cash his 32m each time, what happens with tmt after his contract runs out? tmt and pokemon are already personata non grata in hbo, can they afford similar situation with choketime? may fight is critical for expinocha, flopjr and pokemon. and arum knows this. i already heard arum saying fight should be in macau. flopjr is losing control. arum has him by the balls. if pac -algieri does well especially in china, and does their usual or better numbers in the u.s. (maybe 500-600k), id expect a slew of new demands from arum, foremost will be, fight be held in macau where he is in control. it will be a reversal of sorts.
Who said they lost money? You? :rofl All I see is ******* conjecture on a BOXING FORUM. Typical fabricated BS.
yeah like it's so difficult to figure out. either youre really dumb or in denial. im guessing both.:rofl:hi:
Wait til their next PPV now that it's hit 700k they will charge 90 bucks to continue to try to recoup their losses
I dont see where Showtime makes money staging Mayweather fights when they pay him what they do and the event does'nt sell well over 1 million buys. Hard to believe that those that make boxing decisions at Showtime would think a Maidana rematch would sell more than the first fight simply because it was competitive. You need more than that to bring in the viewers. Maidana was neither close to hurting Mayweather in their first fight so the decision was'nt controversial, and Maidana is'nt a big mouth to sell the fight that way. Showtime is lucky to have sold 700k.
we can all agree now that floyd isnt the draw his fans claim. we knew his fans are idiots but this proves it.
Floyd is ultimately making the decision of who his opponents are. SHO most certainly gives their thoughts and applies pressure to pick certain opponents but I'm sure Floyd's guarantee stipulated that he has final say on who he faces in the ring. Marcos deserved the rematch. Golden Boy dropped the ball on facilitating an undercard that would assist in selling the entire PPV event. That hurt the numbers along with the inflated price tag. The man event had a chance to be great but Floyd, Marcos and the ref screwed us.
Do you have to be a showtime subscriber to buy a showtime PPV? If not then I don't see how Floyd can be attributed to them increasing their subscription base. If yes then... ....america atsch
