Can someone explain to me why this fight was stopped?

    That match-up had already been postponed twice before it actually took place.

    Amazingly, Byron Mitchell was quoted afterward: "The referee was probably right to stop the fight when he did. I thought it was stopped a little bit prematurely but the referee was looking out for my best interests," Mitchell said.
