Competition is getting rough, Floyd better fight or retire

Look, I'm no Floyd hater. I'd be happy to see him fight everyone and answer the question on how great he is, Win, Lose, or Draw.

But the competition is getting better from the days of Baldomir and Ortiz.

He can fight Manny, Khan, Garcia, Bradley, Alexander, or make an insane super fight with GGG.

But you and I know he's not going to fight any of those guys. He will probably pick another 1 dimensional fighter and avoid ANY risk of possibly losing.

Don't Mayweather fans want to see this guy fight the best? I recall Tyson fans arguing passionately that if Lewis and Tyson ever met, Lennox's glass jaw would be shattered into a billion pieces. I see the same type of talk from Mayweather fans about any of these match ups and that Floyd is beyond any level of needing to prove anything anymore.

The reality is, if any of those 3 are his last 3 fights, he will lose to at least 1 of them. But of course, he has NOTHING to prove and fighting his quasi-exhibition fights and winning by 3 rounds each fight clearly cements him as the best ever.

There's nothing diluted about the level of competition he continually faces. You make it seem like he takes on fringe contenders. That's ridiculous.

And honestly, out of all those guys you mentioned, only pacman would be considered supreme competition. I put Canelo Alvarez over most of those guys as far as difficulty goes considering he's a big man who packs a punch. Most people thought he'd give Floyd his biggest challenge until he got whitewashed in the ring.

Khan, Bradley and Alexander would have next to no chance against him. If he beats those guys, critics are going to going to jump down his throat and say he keeps taking on easy competition where he knows there's no risk posed. Pacman is an ATG and I would love to see that matchup, but lets be real at this stage of their careers, Pacman would also be a heavy underdog.

The guy has been fighting top 3 rated contenders in every division he's been in for about 10 years now. The last "unworthy" opponent on his resume was probably Sharmba MItchell, and that was almost a decade ago.

Cut the guy some slack, he's almost 40 and it's not like he's taking on tomato cans.

 

At this point the only one that beats Floyd is himself, by that I mean Father Time. Floyd is 37 and in his next fight he will be 38, his last two fights he's been on the slide. Even when he put on a easy to score win against Maidana he got caught with punches he would have never been hit with in the past.

We all now Floyd is a boxing genius, he can adjust and adapt on the fly. But when you sum up what he does in the ring he controls distance with foot work, he counters with speed and accuracy. He has impenetrable defense and quick reflexes and reaction. His cardio is never ending for 12 rounds.

Now Floyd's defense is starting to slip, as with his reflexes. This fact alone is enough that someone can get too him. if that someone does get to him, it won't be because their a better boxer then him. It will because Floyd got old, it's sad to see these fighters stay too long and get beat and battered from fighters not on their level. Floyd's problem and it's a good one to have is there's too much money on the line. He has that contract and the money is too far good to retire without completing it.

And it was impossible for Holyfield to beat Tyson after his 3 wars with Bowe. It was impossible for Duran to beat Leonard the first time. It was impossible for Shane Mosley to lose in his prime to Vernon Forrest.

when Alexander had the IBF Title at welter is wasn't Mayweather fans who called it a cherry pick, it's not Mayweather fans who consider Undisputed JWW Champ* Garcia a cherry pick or Bradley for that matter, the fact is unless Mayweather fights GGG there is no one people who dislike Mayweather will truly consider top competition, as long as he's fighting Champs and unifying division's I don't care who he fights the best you can ask for is Champs to fight other Champs in their division.
