People coming up with off-the-wall comparisons. Pacquiao is 5'5.5", Floyd is 5'8". They're 3 inches apart in height. 5" difference in reach, which is 2.5" on each arm.

of course because weight is good approximation of size.

you only need a weighing scale.

using size is cumbersome. measuring everything up.

how do you draw the line between arm lengths, height, wrist etc?

point is, same weight, similar skills, speed, etc, a taller guy with more reach has the advantage.

and divisions are seprated by weight measure a day before the fight.

all this talk about fight night weight is pointless, because it unofficial and anyone can refuse to get weighed.

Seperated by weight as that is consider the most important issue when it comes to boxing.

But fine, cling to your 1.5 inch(lets say 2 inch) height difference, if it makes you feel better.

The end of the day, they fight in the same weight class(In an era where boxing has a ridiculous number of weight classes), and weigh the exact same in the ring.

I dont really have to prove anything else. Im done.

No 2 people are exactly the same size to the atom.
Pacquiao is more muscled, Floyd is longer limbed and taller.

How you decide who is bigger is up to you. I dont care anymore.

Well if a poster is asking whether or not Floyd and Tyson are the same size I guess you have to start from the basics.

If two fighters weigh exactly the same then reach can also be a determining factor in the outcome of the fight, and Floyd has a longer reach than Pac.

If Hearns and Floyd were to fight at 147 they might weight the same but Hearns would tower over Floyd, and have a huge reach advantage.

Why is this such a hard concept to grasp?

And why do I feel I'm always posting to 13-14 year olds?

because 100 iq is average, so there is bound to be dozens on here in the 60-70 range... and they are usually the ones who feel every single opinion they have about everything needs to be known by everybody.

you never cared in the 1st place, hence your insistence on trying to conflate weight and size. yes weight, not size, is considered more important in boxing, because sizeclasses would give rise to the ridiculous situation of tyson moving up classes to fight hearns. but none of this distracts from the fact that bigger / smaller are comparative measures of size, lighter / heavier the same for weight.

floyd is bigger than pac, no big deal, claiming otherwise is saying grass is purple. cling to that 1/2" calf difference all you like.

You have AT NO POINT defined what you mean by size, so its impossible to argue the point with you.

That calf difference is as meaningful as your height difference.

Like I said, until you define WTF you mean by size, whats the point of this?

You think Floyd is bigger, and thats basically the entirety of your argument. Your opinion.

au contraire, it's painfully obvious to anybody not an agenda-driven ***** what i mean by size. i haven't defined what i mean by weight either, because that, like size, is a definition in and of itself. and the 2 ain't the same.

calf diameter is as relevant as height? that's your best yet.

    Exactly.

I responded to an earlier thread saying the same thing. Being taller doiesn't equate to bigger in my opinion. Bone density determines it. Now of course if you have some 5 inchesd taller than someone, then obviusoly they have some sort of size advantage, but thats about all.

Its "obvious", yet you never actually defined it.

    Odd.

Are we talking total mass? Some equation taking into consideration height/weight and dimensions?

Simply stating that 2 people who weigh the same, with minor differences in dimensions are different sizes actually does require some definition.

Im willing to say, they're basically the same size.
    Same weight
Slightly difference in height and limb length
Slightly different in density and musculature.

You're the one making an argument one way or the other.

So you have to actually back it up with SOMETHING! ANYTHING!

Simply saying it doesnt cut it. Especially when dealing with what is an absolutely minute, insignificant size differential. The sort of size difference that shouldn't even have a thread to be honest.

yes, they're bigger. and 100% not exactly, by the way. dimensions are different to weight. size is a measure of the former. this is incredible. keep it up, bozos!
