Beterbiev is one of the biggest prospect in LHW. He would have fought Lacy earlier this year (but got injured). This would be a giant step and a big risk.
Cloud's not top class, but he's still a solid, dangerous fighter and a hell of a step up this soon in Beterbiev's career. Props to both if it comes off.
This fight is coming up on Saturday. Artur Beterbiev is 5-0 and unranked. Tavoris Cloud is ranked #8 by the transnational boxing ratings and #7 by The Ring. Tavoris has never been knocked down in a fight, and has just two losses, to the light heavyweight champion (Stevenson) and to the #1 ranked light heavyweight (Hopkins). What do you think - is Cloud too much too soon for Beterbiev? Will Cloud take him into deep waters and drown him? Beterbiev is a puncher who has never been past 4 rounds, Cloud has a lot of experience in 12 round fights.
Beterbiev can really bang too, but it's still a helluva step up. GYM are taking something of gamble here cos' Artur is still getting hit a little too much, especially when goes looking for the early finish. Nonetheless Tavoris is relatively limited stylistically, and, while it's hard to tell given his level of pro opposition to date, I reckon Beterbiev may be both the better fighter and the harder puncher (though I sure as hell wouldn't bet on this fight) - I guess we find out on Saturday, though.
pretty good chance this will be Cloud's 4th consecutive loss. I wonder what he's going to do if Betterbelieve stops him.
Will depend a lot on what sort of Cloud shows up. If hes looking at it like a chance to get back to the big time, then it could be interesting. If hes been broken by his losses, I can see a crushing loss
Beterbiev boxe in the heavyweight division in the AMS, fighting Russian and Cuban veterans. Cloud is in deep trouble. The brits will see it on Boxnation, I will see it in a bar with some friends.
