Iron Mike Tyson His PPV buys were huge, often over 1 million buyers with some of his top fights grossing over $100 million. Then you have to bare in mind that these fights were about 15 years ago when the PPV price was lower. Tyson vs Holyfield (both fights) Tyson vs Lewis If these fights happened in the current times, they would generate more money than any Floyd or Pac fights. I don't give a **** about how much money each boxer makes but I find it funny how Floyd fans can't stop going on about his PPV buys, showtime contract. #1 draw etc.
Only Tyson and Pacquiao as the only fighter in ppv history to generate at least 1 million buys for a fight in 3 consecutive years.
Mayweather? He has done it 5 years in a row. 2009 - Marquez 2010 - Mosley 2011 - Ortiz 2012 - Cotto 2013 - Alvarez
Quit spamming this garbage. You did it all day yesterday along with a couple other things that you said, liked a lot, and began essentially copy and pasting. Lets open our minds and use them before we become an annoying useless troll, okay?
Pac was fighting twice a year which is why his units were higher than Floyds....but Floyd generated more revenue while securing a better "average" per PPV event. For little guys to break a million buys is pretty amazing. So Floyd, Pac and DLH really are doing things that no one ever expected could happen.
I think Tyson is ridiculously overrated to be honest but his impact on boxing was hugely positive. His impact on the sport was much more immense that his talent. Floyd on the other hand is very talented but has had a very negative impact on boxing's health.
Yep.. not only that, closed circuit wasn't accessible in every home, in fact it was a scarcity back in the 90s.
They each were completely different and yet each were able to break through and have mass appeal in a sport where only one or two guys are real "PPV fighters" in America at the same time.
If one was a boxing fan and the type that bought PPV's, the smart ones quickly invested in a black box and never contributed to the numbers ever again.
I remember one guy who stole cable and invited his friends over for a big fight. I think his name was Homer.
