You've got Floyd who has ducked the biggest challenge of his career for 4 years, yet might fight him 2016! And in-between will go on ANOTHER 'vacation'. You've got guys like Quillin who was holding the belt hostage and never fought ANYONE in their prime who was worth a sh*t. Now he rejects a career-best pay day for what? NOBODY wants to fight Golovkin. Ward wants EVERYTHING in his favour, yet is the most unpopular champ in world boxing at the moment. Peterson is fighting nobodies. Garcia is doing the same. Wilder is the biggest hype-job I've ever seen. He hasn't beat a single name. Wlad doesn't want to know about any top challenger. Rigo is in the same boat as Golovkin. Boxers just aren't as tough as the Boxers from the 90's/80's/70's etc. Now it's I have to sit down with my team/talk to my promoter' talk.
Hasnt Garcia fought Khan and Matthyse? And Herrera wasnt and isnt as bad as people made him out to be. Also hasnt Wlad recently beaten Povetkin and is fighting Pulev next?
Yeah it seems to be more a business than ever which is depriving us fans of good fights with the guys at the top. Which might be why sports like MMA have taken off. You can't deny that guys in the UFC, for example, do fight each other. There were also the mafia years where there were dodgy fights. Its all relative I'm sure people in the 80's had a complaint about boxing at that time.
This has always been my argument. :good Ok, so you get the odd guy like Sonnen who talks his way to a title shot (but ends up giving the champ his hardest ever fight), but it's always No.1 vs No.2. Boxing, although the last few years have been awesome, hasn't really done a great deal of that.
The business side is killing the sport and guys like Floyd are bad examples when it comes to facing competition! Boxers also fight too in frequent as well..
I know I would like to see guys in the top ten of each division fighting each other wouldn't you? Isn't this where the cherry pick comes from, because a boxer is supposed to prove he's worthy of a title shot by beating everyone else in contention and then fighting for the belt. There's guys out there fighting for a title and they have not beaten anybody in the top ten of there division. It seems the norm is beat maybe one or two in the top ten. Then if you can generate ticket sales you will get a title shot
Its the reason why I get turned off by boxing every so often . That hunger is just not there anymore . Fighters not wanting to take risky fights because they aware they have a good chance of losing . Warriors like Hagler , Hearns , Leonard , Duran has to be disappointed watching this generation of fighters .
UFC, Bellator & Strikeforce has had more snoozer events than Top Rank, GBP & Dibella Ent put together. Are you kidding me ? Do you follow MMA ? Don't feed me that... I was at UFC I and I was at UFC150 and many in between. The fight game is the fight game and there's absolutely no difference outside of the fact that the younger audience knows nothing about boxing....
Send the girls! You can go to the local adult theater. I'd think you'd be a little bit more comfortable in that environment...
This is off topic but the guys in the UFC, in there top ten of each division, fight each other. Snoozer what are you talking about.
