I think if Floyd fought Pacquiao in 2012 like he planned, he would've retired after. I don't think he wanted it too much in 2010. Neither side seems to want it at the same time. I think Floyd will take the fight on the verge of retirement as a cash-out fight, and Arum (not Pacquiao) will arrange the same for Pacquiao. Because they both benefit more from NOT fighting each other. Just not so much anymore, their PPVs are dropping.

The only one who will be cashing out is Manny, Floyd can cash out with any opponent

At this point, if he takes 60-40 with Pacquiao, he's taking a pay cut. I don't think he'll accept anything other then 80-20 or something.

    Maybe.

Mayweather calls the shots, so if both networks put up record money and Floyd says OK, but no Bob Arum involvement, then the fight could happen.

the problem i have with all this, is that judge weinstein never confirms any of this. he made his statement and fanboys from both sides start to build a case around his statement using what a bunch of confirmed liars had to say about it. and then they have the ovaries to call it proof.
the only thing of interest to me, as someone interested in the truth, in these articles is this part:
Dr. Don H. Catlin, the head of the Los Angeles-based non-profit Anti-Doping Research, Inc., said a 24-day cutoff for blood testing is not sufficient to prevent abuse. One of the concerns with such a long blood-testing cutoff prior to the date of competition would be the potential use of Erythropoietin, or EPO.

But Catlin said that wouldn't be the only concern if there were a 24-day cutoff imposed.

"If you have a 24-day window that's free, with no testing, you can take whatever you want and you're not going to get caught, end of story," Catlin said. "[Urine testing] does matter, yes, but they're not going to catch everything by urine testing alone. What you would do is to take Mircera [a type of EPO], which is available and which is not easy to detect in urine and away you go. You need a blood test."
to me, this part says more than all the other sound bites coming from schaefer, arum, koncs, ellerbe and the rest of the liars for hire. not sure how reliable the testimony of this dr. is, but ill assume he is honest. of course, if i find out that mircera can be detected with blood and urine after the fight, then the whole testing window argument is a joke and meaningless.

There can be no permits issued on the strip to build a boxing arena ( or any other arena) for the specific use of a particular gaming group. Bob Arum knows this... *******s don't !

While I think you and Drew both make some very good points, and I agree with some (not all) of both posts, you reach the same conclusion as me.

Both Pacquiao and Mayweather dropped the ball big time in establishing themselves as true ATG's by failing to fight each other when they should have.

Fanboys of both can blame the other, but they are both to blame. Ali and Fraizer found a way to fight, Leonard and Hearns found a way, Sanchez and Gomez, Whitakker and Chavez, etc, etc.

Mayweather says he would beat Pacquiao, yet, has no intention of proving it, to people who don't believe him. Hopkins says he will beat Kovalev, and has every intention of proving it. That's where the difference lies between greats and All time greats in my opinion.

So what was Hopkin's status when he was turning down '60/40-I'll-whoop-your-azz' when it mattered?
