Our economy hasnt "collapsed" either. Our standard of living is on average in the top 5% of the planet. You havent really given any good reason for Ireland rejoining Britain!
I dont either. But the US authorities are very arbitrary and very inconsistent. Some people are banned for no apparent good reason - eg Khan and Murray...and others sail in no problem. Havent I seen photos of the late lamented Gerard "Hatchet" Kavanagh in the ring stateside working as a cornerman for his son, Jamie? How in gods name did HE get a visa? List of convictions as long as your arm! Baffling.
Khan hasnt been banned from anything, he just got held up for a few days. He spends most of his life in America these days. Murray was essentially a career criminal who had spent 5 years in prison. There was VERY good reason for him not getting a visa.
But that was years ago when Murray was a misguided youth. Today he is a pillar of society, family man, working, paying tax, a qualified youth worker teaching kids not to make the stupid mistakes he made...thats NOT a "VERY good reason"...I give up ... .Bloody hell - :-( atsch
Buddy, I have an MA in Economics. My profession is in global commodity brokering. Ireland is number 18 in the world in GDP per capita (Above the UK) Ireland is number 11 in the UN Human development Index (Above the UK) Have you anything to prove that Irelands economy is ""mediocre". No, you dont have a clue what you're talking about. The standard of living in Ireland is incredibly high by global standards. By all major indices, we have a higher standard of living than the UK. Please stop talking nonsense. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Development_Index#2014_report
It doesnt matter, he was an adult. These arent arbitrary rules. Having gone through the American visa application myself, its asked of everyone. If you have committed a violent crime, you will most likely not be given a Visa. Unless you can make a great case that you will be a huge benefit to the American nation. We're not talking about a guy who stole some sweets. Murray was a hardened criminal and complete scumbag.
I stopped reading right there. Sorry for the delay in replying - its hard to type when youre rolling about on the floor... The best part is that its primarily people like YOU - that actually tanked the Irish economy....atsch Sorry , I have some more rolling to do..."MA in Economics indeed"
Yes from UCC (Undergrad in Economics and Sociology from UL). I frankly don't care if an internet faceless man doesn't believe me or not. Once again Ireland is above the UK in GDP per capita Ireland is above the UK in the UN Human Development Index. Do you deny this? You are essentially putting forward the notion that we should re-join a nation whose average standard of living and average wealth is worse than our own. Great idea! Any more? I wish people like you would go live in a country where an economy has actually tanked, and realise what a whining fool you sound like.
...or better yet, pick up a book on economics and actually learn something. "Anatomy of the State" by Murray Rothbard is a good start Actually "Wealth of Nations" by Adam Smith is probably the best place to start and build from there
:huh? A few years ago I was stalking to a very prominent economist, a man much cleverer than me ( and most def far and away smarter and more knowledgeable than your new hero ,STB), called David McWilliams) Now David and I would agree 90% of the time. He was saying how disastrous things are blah blah ..so just to be awkward I interupted him and trottted out a little bit of the sort of soft-pedal patter that bright young lads like STB are paid to trot out on behalf of their employers: "But David - the markets are saying everything is fine" Davy Mac replied: "Len -always remember who 'the markets' are: The markets are a bunch of spotty -faced twenty-somethings from Es*** who know who won "X-factor" but probably dont know where Strasbourg is." Now Dave is pretty much the smartest boy in the class, if you get my drift. He might have been talking about your new friend STB - In other words be careful about embracing your new hero, Fra. You better hope Pierce Doherty has a few grey hairs is a bit more grounded in reality - you and me both, if your predictions about the outcome of the next election come true! STB is no doubt a bright lad and will go far but he needs a few grey hairs before you can take his pronouncements too seriously....:bbb
:rofl i have one hero...and thats my old man... and i could give a flying fcuk about the markets.... but i cant help but admire stb retort to yourself... len sometimes u gotta take a backward step or have you learnt nothing from boxing:good
I get you now. You think I walked onto a neat counter..to continue yourboxing analogy. In actual fact, Fra, I was drawing his lead. I wasn't laughing at STB because I thought he was uneducated and silly, as you appear to think. I was laughing at him because i KNEW he was educated ..long before he started bragging about it..and all the more silly because for all the money his parents wasted educating him , he still knows nothing, (yet). He thought I was laughing at him because I didn't believe him...actually I was laughing at him precisely because I DID believe him. I actually genuinely was laughing my head off....not in a nasty way. Nothing personal at all. As I say no doubt he's a bright lad who will go far...(soon I hope!..sorry , couldn't resist that!).:good All the best.
