Rather struggle with Maidana at 37 than get beat Ko'd constantly at 35 by Glen Johnson and Tarver. Or losing to Leon Spinks at 36. Or

The point I'm making btw is that history will be very kind to Floyd.

Foreman was fighting demons in his mind.

Floyd was the best fighter on the planet.

    Very different circumstances.

The thing is, you have to have a highlight of fights to watch. I always said while Lewis is greater than Tyson, 20 years from now we'll still be watching Tyson because of the highlight reel. Its hard to watch a Lewis fight despite his great KO's because often he was a pure boxer.

With Mayweather, he doesnt even have a legit KO real from the last 10 years outside of the Hatton and Gatti fight. Its inevitable that he will lose, and when he does, all his fans will run for the gates as the truth overwhelms his fans

You dont realise this but you have really put it to your idol on this post.

So you are saying that if he fought like other greats and didnt take the time off he would have been beaten.

Floyd took the time off because 147 was hot, and when he came back 20 months later it either wasnt or a little asian man was softening them up for him.

In fairness Hopkins has a shout and he's definitely in if he unifies the light heavyweight division at the age of 50.

Seriously nobody is going to care about that in 20 years that he took a 21 month break in a 19 year career. Where was Sugar Ray Robinson from 1952-1955?

You see how silly it is the judge a fighter off of that?

Just so I get this right ball , you are saying the following

Ray who was 131 - 2 -2 at the time and move up to light heavy to challenge for the title retired due to exhaustion, is the same as Floyd taking a vacation because he just beat a career light welter and was at 38 - 0 at the time???

its not silly and people will remember.

no I'm giving you plenty of examples of fighters taking long vacations or semi retiring that nobody cares about. Floyd has had 8 fights since the Hatton fight. You're complaining about nothing

Thats not the case Ball, you have given me two examples in Foreman and Robinson, that is not plenty, and both of those had absolutely legitimate reasons for retiring.

Floyd simply took that time off when he was in his prime due to the heat at 147.

Very different and it will be remembered.

Foreman was battling demons is a legitmate reason?

Ok well Floyd was battling demons too. He was losing his love for boxing and his body was breaking down as you can see in the 24/7 against Hatton. He was having hand issues, back issues, elbow issues and shoulder problems.
