I already rank Hopkins above Mayweather. So regardlessif he wins or loses against Kovalev, he will still be ranked more by me

He didn't lose to Taylor either time or Calzaghe Nard NEVER gets any close decision wins. He only lost twice officially Jones jr & Dawson.
Floyd has lost twice to Castillo & Maidana anyway:patsch

Depends what happens afterwards. If Kovalev goes on to do great things, it becomes a colossal win. If he immediately retires, probably not.

Calzaghe landed almost twice as many punches. Even factoring in the knockdown, there is no way to say that Hopkins won the fight. None. It is a myth that it was even close.

Hopkins already ranks well above Mayweather in achievement.

B Hop didn't lose the first fight.

If people knew Hopkins would still be fighting today, they would have never robbed him.

And there would never have been a second fight.

Floyd got his **** pushed in the first time around by Maidana and needed a home town ref to help beat him the second time.

B Hop is easily the most skilled fighter in boxing.

Imagine Floyd taking a fight against a young hungry fighter against whom he has a stylistic disadvantage. Now that would be crazy!

B Hop also knew that the Chad Dawson fight wasn't that winnable but he took that too.

See thats why B Hop is a true champ and Mayweather isn't.

I think the question is about achievement more than pound for pound.

Both perceptions can be supported. I will go with the perfect flawless record. And both are not done yet.

He's taking the tough fights no other big name wants to take in his division. Throwback fighter for sure.
