Ezzard Charles vs Muhammad Ali

I dont think its a question of size but just the fact that Ali was too much in almost every department. I think hed make Charles look ordinary.

 

Could be like the Doug Jones fight or the Cooper fight without the blood. Zora Foley but with a better chin?

However, like the very best champs I just don't think Ali could get beat in his prime.

 

Charles would give Ali absolute fits.

Come to think of it, he could have given practically anybody fits!

 

At heavyweight Ali had too much of everything and more over Charles. A primer Charles might catch Clay in a Doug Jones kinda way… but as far as a mature Ali, pre-Manilla…. nope.

Ali had problems with boxers like Ellis.

 

Q. What does Charles do better than Ali?

This would be Ali v Jimmy Ellis revisited.

 

No he didn't he did not put his foot on the pedal till the second half of the fight ,in essence he allowed his friend to make a show.


It was a fairly even fight for the first three rounds, but Ali took control after hurting Ellis with a right hand in the fourth round. Ellis said the right hand "hurt me so bad I couldn't really fight my best after that."
The referee stopped the fight at 2:10 of the 12th round with Ellis on his feet taking punishment. There were no knockdowns in the fight

Charles or Walcott would be great to see against Ali.

Ezzard Charles is not in anyone's top ten as a heavyweight champion, Ali is routinely described as the best.
Ali has a better jab, a better hook, and a better right cross he is also significantly faster of both hand and foot, add to that he had a much better chin, three inches in height,25lbs in weight and 5 inches in reach. I don't know what you're drinking?

 

Charles could be very competitive against Ali. Prime for prime it's a tough matchup. Ali had some issues with smaller men that were close in hand speed. Never mind the pre prime Ali that had tough fights with Jones and Cooper but even at his best against Folley. folley had moments, Especially the openig round and after the first knockdown. Folley was well past it, and "chinny" at this point.

I see this as a very competitive fight.

 

I THINK its silly to say Ali gave Ellis a break because there BUDDYS.Charles had a better punch. where do you get your smoke?
