And the economic angle - no massive & generous welfare/entitlement society and mind set in EE. "Poor" Americans live like most middle class East Euros. To put it another way, most US citizens have lost the "eye of the tiger".

By the late 19th/early 20th century, yes.

However even by the mid 20th century welfare was very limited... and the US still had large manufacturing base. IOW most US citizens were used to a harder life. Now most jobs are retail, fast food jockey, and all around paper pushing. You need some of this but that's just about the entire US job structure now.

More to the point the labor participation rate among working age Americans is near an all time low. Even sedentary "office" jobs are too demanding for many US citizens :blood FFS lawn care is considered "brutal" work in the US :-( mostly done by recently arrived Hispanics.

The US used to be many nations (states) until they were forced together via a bloody war. Eastern Europe and the Soviet block were nearly the same entity/nation for decades.

The EE people are more alike with a shared historical origin than "Americans" or Hispanics as CST80 noted.

I'm American too, and I've made many posts explaining the decline of US boxing. It's not hard to figure out if you look at reality and take off the biased nostalgic filters, sentimental nationalism, etc.

 

Basically the floodgates are about to crash wide open and a certain segment of American society who has been entitled over the past few decades is getting marginalized by better fighters.
