Does the passing of one of boxing's great promoters void the contract he has with Andre Ward? Or does Goosen's promotional company own the rights to Ward? I apologize in advance if I offended anybody but this has been on my mind ever since I heard the horrible news today. Please provide your thoughts on Andre Ward going forward...will he be in the ring in the Spring? Perhaps on a Money May undercard?!?!? Love Boxing!
It was a matter of time considering they were just in court .. I would assume that his promotional company still owns him..RIP
Oh get to **** mate. It is no way insulting to Goosen to question how him passing effects Ward's contract.
Goosen's death will have no bearing on Andre Ward's chances of getting a big fight: 1- he will still demand his opponent come to Oakland 2- he will still demand the fight be at 168, regardless of whether he's calling out LHW or MW 3- he will still have no personality and a boring style. 4- he will still want a ridiculous sum of money for the fight and a great deal more than his ticket selling opponent 5- he will still refuse to take the test The only thing Ward might realize is it wasn't all Goosen fault after all. :deal
The goosens are a big boxing family. Dans death won't effect wards contract with goosen-Tudor promotions. Someone will take over. Having someone else at the helm could effect wards chances of getting a big fight soon tho. Whether positively or negatively is yet to be seen. Wards a real arrogant ***** tho...if his unwillingness to make concessions doesn't change I doubt his current predicament will either, regardless of who promotes/manages him.
Here is statement from Ward http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_26628060/boxer-andre-wards-longtime-trainer-dan-goossen-dies
Steve Kim @steveucnlive · 8h 8 hours ago For those who asked about the Goossen lawsuit vs Ward, no idea. I do know he wasn't going away, he took that VERY personally #boxing Steve Kim @steveucnlive · 8h 8 hours ago For Dan Goossen, the Ward situation, after awhile had much more to do with protecting his family name than #boxing or business Steve Kim @steveucnlive · 8h 8 hours ago Dan Goossen made it very clear to me in many private conversations he would never settle with Ward. It was THAT personal for him #boxing :think
Something tell me Ward knew Goosing was very ill and close to death and decided to wait out his death. He can probably deal with the rest of the family in a less personal fashion
