Seriously grounded and model professional and all round nice guy I hope he also has his hunger back, will be interesting to see if sims has had any influence on his fighting style, whatever happens I will continue to support the rickster serious tough man in the ring and rarely in a boring fight, would be amazing if he was a 3 weight world champ, come on rick show the doubters!

i agree.. though don't expect any positive comments on here
Burns seems to be the most hated british boxer on here for some reason.. which is amazing for a very successful 2 weight world champ.

I know don't know why I think young boxers should take note of the way he lives and trains, we have so many fighters that think they are better than they are, for instance look at the trap fury has and what has he achieved compared to burns??

Any boxer should look up to Ricky for what he's achieved

Yes, major kudos to Ricky for what he has achieved in the past. However I don't expect to see a vastly improved Ricky Burns anytime soon; he looks on the slide to me and I can't see it changing. Hope I'm wrong though as he comes across as a genuinely lovely fella.

I like Ricky and have always been a fan and what he has achieved is great. But, here is the but he is a good fighter who does everything good but nothing that stands out. This I believe is why he is levelled out in his career, I cannot see him becoming a world champion again but he is still top 10 material and good luck to him. But I think his best days and form are behind him.

definitely billy and you were obviously part of his greatest nights, with the current world champions at his new weight, do you think he can become a 3 weight champ? surely if he sticks to his boxing he has a chance, I think apart from froch burns is the hardest mother

I hope we see a really good performance from Ricky and I imagine he'll be jumping at the bit to put one on when he next steps in the ring.

Met him before, lovely down to earth guy and was near on distraught after the way his last fight panned out I believe - so hopefully we'll see Ricky back to winning ways.

Does make me laugh when you hear people try and slag him or down play his achievements.. also annoying when you see people kicking a man when he's down. Whatever the 'haters' like to say or think, Burns has exceeded all expectations, has shown sheer heart & balls at times and has reached world title level in 2 weight divisions... not too shabby that.

I have never seen a British fighter achieve so much with so little natural talent. Obviously he had talent, but not world class talent. That's not meant as a dig, but a big compliment. Compliment us he is super fit, does 12 rounds well, can take a shot, and was very well coached by Billy to get from fringe British Class (his talent level) to a 2x world champion

Not being rude at all , I do agree he has obviously worked hard over many years and has accomplished a lot in his career more than I thought he would . He is not the most talented boxer but he can certainly feel great pride in his achievements . I do just wonder how a boxer of Ricky's age can return to the ring and be a new improved version of himself . For me it's just talk and a psychological move by those around the fighter . Good luck to him and it would be great to see him lift another world title belt , my second youngest isn't really into boxing but Ricky is a fighter he will watch , Ricky and Kostya tszyu :yep

That's a bit harsh Moog. Ricky has natural talent. After seeing Burns make his debut Marvin Hagler said Burns had all the skills/quality's that would be required to become World Champion one day. Hagler also said Burns would be easy to teach. I'll take Marvins word for it as he knows boxing more than us. Burns should get most of the credit for his achievements.

moog what the **** you on mate so little natural talent, they don't hand out world titles pal, it does say much for the rest of the LW in the UK who wouldn't get near him to say such a thing.
He has huge talent now I know for a fact you have never entered a boxing ring before, so for you to say that is nothing short of shocking, :patsch:patsch
