Not necessarily who was the best, but who impressed you the most and why?

Ken Buchanan is up there for me for his game stand against Duran.

Honeyghan beating Curry against all odds.

John Conteh for his sheer class in the ring.

Froch for having the balls to step up and fight anyone.

Tommy Farr for giving a young Joe Louis a cracking fight.

I know there were many more, so who stands out for you and what made them so special?

In addition to the ones you already listed, I've always liked Frank Bruno. He was tough, game and always came in fit.

Hamed great character great power and a a great unorthodox exciting style.

Benn loved his do or die attitude went for the kill from the first second till the last.

Charlie Magri always in exciting fights.

Ian Napa took defense to all new level(lol)

    Ken Buchanan simply brilliant.

Henry Cooper. Good role model. Personified an entire generation of post war decent working class British who were evacuated during the war as kids, did national service and always did their best. Excelent mainstream ambassador for boxing. Never put a foot wrong, no scandal or dirt on him.

Carl Froch continues to impress me. Something of a modern-day Rocky Marciano, a blood and guts warrior who typifies the English spirit.

Also liked Frank Bruno a lot; an honest-to-goodness heavyweight with glaring flaws but some tremendous strengths as well. Good guy.

Always liked Freddie Mills...another blood and guts type of fighter. Heart of a lion.

Nigel Benn...gutsy warrior who wore his heart on his sleeve. Vulnerable but extremely dangerous.

Michael Watson. A class act in and out of the ring.

By what I know so far Froch, Buchanan, Carl Thompson. To a lesser degree Eubanks and to a lesser degree Haye.

The rest (but I am probably missing some) I admire less than I do Haye.
It includes Jim Watt, Nigel Benn, Lennox Lewis (supposing he is British), Frank Bruno.

Watson was good, but I do not admire him.

According to superficial boxrecing, Farr has an impressive record.
But 1 got 2 wonder how many fouls, fixed fights, injured/sick/unfit for some reason opponents he had.

Henry Cooper is vastly overrated because Ali is vastly overrated.
Those crimes and the ignorance of people distort history and ratings.

I don't admire boxers but Haye and Hamed were fighters to watch. Two Unorthodox power punchers who were exciting in and out of the ring.

Jem Mace – real innovator of the sport, and incredible pound for pound fighter.

Bob Fitzsimmons – possibly the best fighter who ever lived, and certainly one of the best finishers.
