Lol, how am i being disrespectful? Im saying it a good win for Lewis because he came back from a slow start to beat the younger number one contender who remained undefeated the rest of his career and gave a great effort before losing. You dont agree with that?

It's Lewis's best ever win. And by some distance too. Nobody else Lewis beat went on to do anything remotely close to what Vitali did after that fight.

It is incorrect to call him fat per say, but he was certainly sluggish. We can see the difference 7lbs made in his performances between Rahman 1 and 2.

For me it was a weaker/average win, mostly because he didn't prepare adequately and it showed. He didn't realize he was gonna fight Vitali until like two weeks before it happened. But he did win fairly, and was starting to figure Vit out and time him before it was actually stopped. If there ever was a rematch I'm sure Lewis would come into it in great shape and we would have seen a much more decisive win from Lewis. At the end of the day though it is impressive that the worst version of Lewis was able to beat a really good version of Vitali.

I posted it here because there still seems to be great interest in it. As far as spamming up the board...does it really take an effort to scroll past something or not click on it?

I appreciate your honesty on the win though.

How can it be weaker or aaverage when you've said Lewis wasnt at his best while Vits was. Its for that reason among other that make it a good to great win.

-I don't believe he was sluggish, his punches were pretty sharp, maybe some of the best full power jabs of his career, and he showed great conditioning in pressing and pushing Vitali back and finishing the fight on his feet despite being rocked so many times.

-A variety of factors should be considered with contrasting the Rahman fights. The biggest difference was Steward's strategic adjustment of having Lewis pressure Rahman instead of boxing him. Steward has gone on in depth in analyzing these two fights.

I disagree about him not being sluggish and showing good stamina, but you make a very good point in the second half of your post.

It harms his legacy greatly that he didn't take on his number 1 challenger during his era, Wlad Klitschko. Especially so considering how badly Lewis struggled with the much, much worse brother. Throwing his belt in the bin rather than face the tricky Byrd was also shameful. Byrd's overall cv is quite similar to 'The Lion's' in fact.

I guess it just seems irresponsible that Lewis would be complacent like that again after Rahman K.O.ed him for doing that the first time. Lewis' attitude towards defending against Johnson is what detracts from this for me. Like I said, it impressed me, but I was also irritaded because Lennox was making the same mistake twice.

I dont think Vits proved himself a great champion as i dont rate title holders. But he did prove he could hang with nearly any fighter in history and most certainly could have been champion in almost any era. Had Wlad not been in the picure or had not been his brother for that matter, we would have gotten to see just how good Vits was. This is just my opinion though.
