A good trainer has to recognize his fighters capabilities and limitations, Mayweather Sr. clearly did not in this case.

Nazim Ricardson is another example of a trainer who does'nt recognize a fighters capablities. He took his fighter Shane Mosley and had him try to follow the excact blueprint that Marquez implemented on Pacquiao.
The problem was that Mosley does'nt have the boxing instincts and capablities that Marquez does.
You cant have a fighter try to follow another fighters blueprint if he does'nt have the skills necessary to see that through.
A good trainer takes the strenghths of his fighter and formulates a gameplan that implements that in some capacity.
