In a recent Hearn interview, he mentioned that Degales opponent on the Nov 22nd Liverpool show was ranked 6th in the world by an organisation and had "fought for a world title recently".

Also said on IFL people will be 'surprised' at how good a fight it will be for James.

Anyone know any more or have any ideas who?

Bika? Can't imagine it being him with a Froch fight within touching distance? Likewise Bika has been chasing the Froch fight, so maybe he's thinking if he beats Degale he stands a good chance of landing it?

Then again though, Bika makes EVERYONE look bad.. hardly the fight that will get people jumping on the Froch v Degale bandwagon.

Periban? Lost to Bika for the WBC a year or so ago.

Edwin Rodriquez who's coming off a loss to Ward?

Surely got to be one of those 3 names, either that or a MW will be moving up...

Yeah Periban has hardly set the world alight in his last 3 fights but it is a step forward in comparison to much of his recent competition.

Hearns got to get the balance right with Degale for his next fight.

    1. He has to be in a fight where he's going to get worked and therefore improve as a fighter.
    2. Froch v Degale is on the table, Degale has to look good in order to generate more interest and therefore make it a bigger fight should it come off.

Good point but Eddie mentioned he'd recently fought for a world title and is ranked number 6 in one of the governing bodies and Bika is ranked at 6 with the WBC...Kugan was also at Bika v Dirrell on the Kell Brook undercard. :think

Eddie said he is a a former world title challenger and not a former world champion. Bika wouldnt qualify as he is a former world champion. Periban looks likely, decent matchmaking.

Fair enough, guess Eddie might have just got the ranking of the opponent mixed up.

He also fought for some WBA strap vs Love on the Mayweather undercard which Kugan was at.
