Why hasn't Naseem Hamed been inducted into the IBHOF?

I think it is not likely. Naseem's criminal record means it is very unlikely he would be allowed to travel the USA. And IBHOF need to sell their weekend with names you can see.

HoF possibly, ATG no. ATGs don't chicken out after one defeat.

hes to blame, if he did something boxing related and succeeded in it even now (eg promoting) then that would be enough to shoehorn himself in. But no he just ran, and was never heard of again. This is tremendously cowardzaghe.

Surely someone from the ingle team could accept on his behalf. He deserves to be there.

Hill, no. He was under appreciated imo.

But Gatti, I agree with that one.

They see the 20 losses and judge without knowing.

He certainly has credentials that will probably land him in the HoF eventually, but the fact that one defeat made him walk away rather than redouble his efforts (unlike most all-time greats) works against him.

I don't think you get the * by the loss because you say he had a "good" excuse: failing to properly train for a fight, if that's the case, counts against him in my book rather than for him.

And your take on that defeat is rather selective, to say the least: he and Barrera were the same age when they fought, yet you call Bareera "prime" and Naz "near the end of his career" -- it was only near the end of his career because the fight so rattled his psyche that he chose to walk away because of it, with a meaningless "retirement party" fight a little over a year later.

To me, and probably to a lot of voters, the fact that he quit after someone schooled him definitely is a mark against his legacy.

^ that is accurate. Those factors matter and are strikes against him. He will get in eventually.

Doesn't matter to me who gets in, it's a lot of meaningless crap imo. There's more in it than out of it!
If he gets in , Hamed won't be the first highly objectionable human being to be inducted, and he won't be the last.
