I haven't scored this fight in a long time but i remember it was very close. Norton himself even admited it could've gone either way.

It wasn't close. This fight was the clearest decision of the 3 fights. I don't know or care what the scorecards were.

Because Norton broke Ali's jaw and dominated the action(understandably) thereafter?

I think you're getting mixed up with their second fight. That was the one that Norton felt could have gone either way.

I've been a big Ali fan since I was a kid in the sixties and he's my favourite boxer of all time but there's no way that I see their first bout as being anything other than a clear win for Ken. I score it 7 - 4 - 1 Norton.

For the record I have Muhammad taking the second one 6-5-1 and Norton the third by 9 - 6. Some of the rounds were really close in that one, though.

Norton broke Ali's jaw in the first fight in 1973. Watched it on Wide World Of Sports...
    ..Norton beat his ass...

Yeah Muhammad didn't look good in that first fight with Norton. He was sluggish and took a lot of shots. Ken won that clearly for me. I'll also ad that I gave Ken the third fight by a razor thin margin. The second fight is the only one that I can honestly and fairly give to Ali.

Norton won the first fight, got closely shaded in the second fight, and quite frankly probably deserved the third fight. Hence, I get why Leon Spinks did not want to fight Norton, and why I give Holmes credit for beating Norton. He may very well have beaten the guy who should have been champ at that point but for what the official judges said.

Same here. I am convinced that Norton beat Ali all three times.

idk why anyone thought Norton was robbed in the second match.:huh imo it was one of the easiest "controversial fights" to score. i didn't even like Ali back then and i still thought Ali won i was even LOOKING for rounds to give to Norton in their second fight,
I scored this fight without any bias and even tho deep down I would've wanted Norton to win on my scorecard he didn't.

    Norton won rounds: 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 14

    Ali won rounds: 1, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 15

    Drew rounds: 4 and 12

Even round 4 could've been tipped in Ali's favour looking back so all in all there was no robbery I think Ali won fair and square. Almost everyone in the arena basically had the bout come down to the 15th round which Ken gave away by landing one jab in the first two minutes and a total of two up to the last thirty seconds, he gave the round and fight away. Norton has no one to blame but himself. The Associated press disagreed with you also having the bout 8-6-1 Ali while UPI had it by round 8-7 for Norton, and the London Daily Mirror 6-6-3, all razor close in a very close fight won by Ali. (Unofficial punch counts done by various observers is 281 landed by Ali and 199 Norton for the bout).

I think it fairer to say ALL 3 of their fights could have gone either way. NONE were robberies. Wrongly scored perhaps, but NOT robberies.
