Alot of moaning and rightly so about Clev v Bellend so picture your eddie hearn, you have his stable you need to pick 5 fights of a decent and realistic standard to put on PPV for example march pick 5 fights you as the promoter would put on . mine would be Froch v Degale (if couldnt make that would have frampton v quigg) Huck v Bellew/Clev Joshua v Kevin Johnson(would want price but doubt he would take it) Callum Smith v Fielding Burns v Derry Matthews(boxnation ..would be difficult)
would try Khan vs brook Dirrell vs groves (if sauderland allow it) Quigg vs Galahad Joshua vs Audley (publicity wise rather than anything to really help AJ's career) J McDonnell vs his mandatory (can't think of a "name" for him to fight yet)
That card unfortunately would never happen as good as it is, pretty much all those undercard fights could headline their own show on standard sky.
Why does it have to be PPV ? The world's gone backwards when the legitimate question for a promoter becomes "how to sell my limited fights to a dwindling moaning audience?" ... (or however you stated it.) The legitimate questions for a promoter should be "how to develop my fighters into commercially viable box office stars for a mass audience" .... OR .... "how to secure and sign the services of legitimate star fighters". Things have gone seriously wrong with this boxing business.
Froch v Ward Froch v Golovkin Froch v Stevenson Froch v Hopkins, maybe ^ Those should be realistic PPV material
Even though I think its bad that this is PPV it will be a much better fight than say Froch vs Groves 2 was. I think sometimes its not necessarily the quality of the fighters even though they are both world level but the fact that the fight will be very good and there is a genuine dislike which will make the fight interesting. With a stacked and competitive undercard I think this could be good value for money, hopefully there are not too many mismatches on the undercard just to showcase a fighter. This fight is not PPV worthy but I still believe it could be a good night of boxing
Quigg v Frampton Bellew v Cleverley Coyle v Campbell Macklin v Murray Joshua v Audley That card would be worthy of PPV in my opinion but not a chance of it happening I admit
The difficulty with 'ideal' PPVs is that a lot of the fights we've mentioned would headline a sky date with a poor undercard. Once PPV is divided between all these fighters, will they earn more of less than they would headlining their own sky date? It has to be worth it for the fighters. Frampton and Quigg has genuine interest and they will pull in the viewers and the live gate, therefore they're going to split the Lion's share. What does that leave for the likes of Bellew and Cleverly or Murray and Macklin? If the PPV card is successful enough that everyone mikes a huge payday then great but I just don't think it's economically viable unfortunately
suppose if the fights at Wembley in front of 80K or so, its a good chance to get some new fans and a likely career highlight. a big PPV with say a million sales at £20 = 20mil, + ticket sales of another 5mil, with radio, sponsors /+ foreign TV added on there should enough to pay a half decent amount for the undercards.
A few from right through the weights HW - AJ vs Lucas Browne CW - Bellew vs Clev Skip LH SM - Groves vs C smith OR P Smith vs Fielding MW - Murray vs Macklin LM - Rose - L Smith Stick Galahad vs quigg or frampton in Campbell vs Flanagan Never happen, a wet dream of a card for me - not in a million years
Brook vs Khan Groves vs Degale 2 in a unification bout (depending on if george wins the wbc title which i think he will vs dirrel and if Degale wins the IBF title from froch which i can see happening. degale is all wrong for froch.) Galahad Vs Frampton Murray vs Macklin Campbell vs Coyle Joshua vs Chisora. Old Trafford Stadium.
