This is true. I've seen a few posters here erroneously claim that Wlad didn't want a Sanders rematch when in fact it was Sanders who thwarted the instant rematch clause by relinquishing the WBO title to make big bucks to fight Vitali for the vacated WBC title.
Of course Sanders would seek the more prestigious belt, the first fight wasnt even a contest. In fact it was such an annihilation big bro Vits implored Wlad to go into another profession. We know he didnt, but he never sought to avenge against Sanders either. These are the facts.
http://www.secondsout.com/archive/anthony-evans/q--a-with-corrie-sanders AE: Before the Jones thing came up it appeared you were heading into a December rematch with Wladimir, providing you both won your interim bouts? How do you see the rematch with Klitschko? CS: I have a step up on him, mentally. I know he'll fight very differently the second time around. He'll be probably be a completely different fighter with a completely different approach in this fight. But the truth is he can't take my punches and, even if it takes until round seven or eight, I'll land and get to him again. I think next year is my last in boxing. [yt]SK5t2o_zCYc[/yt]
Lol, "it appeared you were heading into a rematch with Wlad". Now im waiting for you to show me where there were ANY negotiations. Im waiting. :rofl
http://www.secondsout.com/uk-boxing-news/uk-boxing-news/british-buzz-sanders-lands-in-london "Lions head honcho Adrian Ogun revealed that he was in negotiations with IBF king Chris Byrd, Evander Holyfield, Roy Jones Jr and even a rematch with Klitschko.
What were the negotiations? What was brought to the table? Any way you klitards have yourself in a pickle here. If there were negotiations it seems Sanders initiated it and Wlad still ducked him. I'll find the interviw with Sanders when i get home with him saying he always windered why Wlad never sought a rematch. Bottom line is its on the loser to make it happen and Wlad didnt. On the other hand, both times Lewis lost he made those rematches happen. Cant change the facts boys!
This article...??? http://www.boxingnews24.com/2010/06...hy-wladimir-klitschko-never-sought-a-rematch/
Ok it seems you won't accept proof. Your notion that Wlad ducked Sanders has no factual basis whatsoever. The facts are Wlad had an instant rematch clause, there were negotiations for a rematch and Sanders vacated his WBO title to fight Vitali for the big money which thwarted the rematch clause. Wlad didn't duck him. LL however vacated his IBF title to avoid having to fight Chris Bryd, this is a fact. Lewis seemed to be quite averse to fighting southpaws.
You must have been writing this rubbish when moparfan posted the link i talked about. What do you little Muppets like to say? BORKED :rofl
I'll take a non biased formal report from 2003 over a laughably self grandising opinion piece in 2010 7 years after the fight.
It's about as laughably delusional and self grandising as this sit down interview Lewis gave in 2013: [YT]2bJnnBg9MwI[/YT]
Take it however you want, but as i said, the fact Wlad didnt seek it publicly is the proof in the pudding. Even the one link you provided shows Sanders team going after. That itnever happened just signs, seals and delivers my case. You just got smacked down!
Sanders voided the rematch to fight Vitali for the big payday. If you don't want to accept this fact and instead want to hold out on the notion that Wlad in some manner ducked him then the more power to you.
