This is true. I've seen a few posters here erroneously claim that Wlad didn't want a Sanders rematch when in fact it was Sanders who thwarted the instant rematch clause by relinquishing the WBO title to make big bucks to fight Vitali for the vacated WBC title.

 

He was never in talks about a Sanders rematch. Corrie always questioned why Wlad never sought it.

 

Of course Sanders would seek the more prestigious belt, the first fight wasnt even a contest. In fact it was such an annihilation big bro Vits implored Wlad to go into another profession. We know he didnt, but he never sought to avenge against Sanders either. These are the facts.

Ok it seems you won't accept proof. Your notion that Wlad ducked Sanders has no factual basis whatsoever. The facts are Wlad had an instant rematch clause, there were negotiations for a rematch and Sanders vacated his WBO title to fight Vitali for the big money which thwarted the rematch clause. Wlad didn't duck him.

LL however vacated his IBF title to avoid having to fight Chris Bryd, this is a fact. Lewis seemed to be quite averse to fighting southpaws.

Take it however you want, but as i said, the fact Wlad didnt seek it publicly is the proof in the pudding. Even the one link you provided shows Sanders team going after. That itnever happened just signs, seals and delivers my case. You just got smacked down!

 

Sanders voided the rematch to fight Vitali for the big payday. If you don't want to accept this fact and instead want to hold out on the notion that Wlad in some manner ducked him then the more power to you.
